Map:

Lets imagine you got three forces TF-1-3 advancing from W->E which has been given three seperated tactical boundaries of operation: "North", "Middle" and "South". All boundaries are maked by the map and by the two lines going from the west edge of the map to the east. Lets also say that you got one phase line Alpha where "Middle" are supposed to take up an ABF to "hold them in the nose" while "North" and "South" are supposed to make a break through and circle around for assaulting the enemy "Middle" forces from behind.

How would the tactical drawings be for crossing boundaris after "Alpha" ?

Best regards

If north, middle and south consists of company TF, i would make btn boundry (starting at phase line) to the north and south and nothing in between. Or only have btn boundry from start.

I would think your fixing, or middle unit should have a boundry end - do not fire on targets beyond here, so that they do not frat encircling units. Then the flanking companies could have their boundries expand past that middle boundry and converge on the OBJ. You might consider a single envelopment for two reasons. It's easier to coordinate in RL and less likely to put units into a frat situation. Secondly, it's more commonly used. The right circumstances for a double envelopment are like being dealt a 21 (Ace, and King) in blackjack. It happens, but not that often, so don't count on it for a win.

As for how to show this realisticly with map graphics in a planning situation, where is Archangel these days...?
