Okay...check this out. From long range enemy targets stand out without skins (ghost tanks?) I zoom in to higher mag and they become painted.

While I enjoy popping tanks off easily (LOL) I want this problem GONE.

What did I do to get this? How do I fix it?

Hey Sean... could you move this post to the support forum? I'ma dingus for posting it here. Sorry.

Whats your graphics card and how old are your drivers? Ive never seen anything like this.

That almost looks like some sort of 'partial bleedover' from a TIS view.

Look close, only the treads and wheels are light, the turrets are dark. And look how dark the rest of the image is. (sky, etc).

This is a LOD problem, and I've seen something similar once or twice.

This happened to me once with the T-80. I had moved the default T-80 skin for photoshoping editing and didn't put it back in the folder when I finished skinning it. The white tanks are a placeholder for the correct skin being missing - I think.

It could be LOD or it could be what topkick said. The patch will have a LOD slider that should help narrow down the problem....

But were you able to look at the target under high magnification and then see it skinned?

That's weird, haven't seen it yet myself. I use an older video card too, a GF 6600 @ 256 MB. I do see glitches in other games that are probably due to my card, but none so far in PE.

I'm hoping that it is Top Kick's explanation of the problem... I left him a note but he's not around to answer yet. Weird too... just out of the blue.

Nope... that's the quality of the jpeg dude. It's the hull and the turret... everything is ghost white without a skin.

Ah, the dark part he sees is the smoke from your kills... Not the turrets.

Okay, that brings me to a question and possible solution. Is this happening with only one type of vehicle or all of them. I ask this because if you go into the Program Files/PE to change your skins and mistakenly rename the new one incorrectly (and rename the original to something like "M1A1_orig") then that skin will not be found by PE and you'll get nothing but model. Just a thought... (scarry huh?) It's best to use the My documents/eSim folder set-up to use skins. BTW: Thank you eSim for that one~! Excellent way for setting up mods.

This is what I am thinking too... I think my T-72 is messed up... what should it be called officially? T72 or T72M1???

This is correct. Same with any 3D game. Not so much a placeholder, but the actual 3D model, just without the skin applied.

I agree. What is the official name of the T-72 skin file? I think it got overwritten.

That could do it. With some games the skin just won't appear, with other the game will CTD if it can't find the right file.

I'm looking for the filename now....

I guess you need the specific theme too, yes? or all?

The filenames are the same in all the theme folders..

T72.BMP
t72_h.BMP
t72M1.BMP

I think I remember that I have it set for T-72M1. I'll bet that it has to be called simply T72. I'll give it a try when I get finished trying to housetrain the dog. heh... heh... heh... be a few months.

There was a grove of trees between me and the target and I only saw the left front fender of the T-80 at high mag TIS. I thought it looked normal. I guessed at where the turret should be and took a shot, killing it. During the AAR is when I noticed the white T-80 skin.

After scratching my head for a few minutes, I realized that I had failed to return the T-80 skin to the proper folder after I made a new skin for it. I corrected that and never had the problem again. I assumed that the white tank was a place holder or that I was looking at the actual model unskinned.

Cobrabase, if you need new copies of the skins I can upload them to a server for you.

Thanks chief but I don't think: A. it will be needed B. Esim would like that. :)

I'm going to give it a try in a while. Hopefully its just an issue of mistaken identity. :)

I don't think Esim would like that.

I would only do that because you obviously have a purchased copy. and with a privately sent URL.

If none of my tinkering works... You're on.

Thanks Chief! :D

SOLVED!

Somehow I lost my AUTUMN T-72M1 file! So... it was working at different woodland distances but not long distance through unscoped viewing!

Thanks to all you guys for your help!

NOT a LOD problem Esim! Yay!
