I took the train to Dubbo in rural NSW over the weekend (7hrs of interesting terrain) and videoed a fair bit of the trip to get ideas for Australian rural maps.

Something I noticed was the amound of stock (cattle, sheep) and wildlife (mobs of Kangaroo’s, etc.) which was there in reality but I am currently not able to include in SB Pro PE maps.

Any idea when / if this fucntionality will be added so that trainees can have an extra degree of difficulty when using TI (namely moving groups of heat signatures maybe enemy infantry or they maybe wandering stock)?

Once / if that gets sorted out I’ll ask about adding the three strand wire fences (usually topped with barbed wire) that surround the paddocks and provide a bit of an obstacle for infantry. :)

Probably never.

Referring to problems differentiating infantry from other biota on the move, bipedalism will probably make for a dead giveaway. If not, machine-gun fire should obviate what problems might arise. Troops with a lot of information processing on their plate to begin with will probably welcome an opportunity to ignore certain types of targets, anyway.

On the contray
through a thermal sight a heat signature is not all that obvious as to what it is, especially at range or partially obscurred by foliage etc.
Problems with identification can not only cause uncertainty and pressure but also ammo wastage, compromising of posistion and also possible fratricide.

In addition could you imagine how funny it would look to see a kangaroo turned inside by a sabot/fin round!!

Probably not that much different than the deer that we managed to turn inside out with a HEAT practice round. That poor animal was still alive when we arrived on the scene after it became obvious that it wasn't just a heated cardboard target. The Cpt had to shoot it with his sidearm.

More to the point though you were one main armament round down in your turret.
Could be the difference between victory and and an untimeley demise amoungst diesel and cordite.

but in SB it's easy:
if TC annoyingly pulls you (gunner) to the obscure target = infantry. shoot.
else = not infantry. hold fire.

it is rather pointless having boar/deer/bunny sprites as well, IMO. although hitting wild animals is pretty ordinary in training/low intensity fighting (oh, the massacre of wild boars in South Lebanon..), I have never heard of it in high-intensity battles as seen on SB. I guess the animals run away and hide from such a mess.

Sure animals will run away if they can but that is sort of the point of the fences around the paddocks to begin with - namely to keep the stock in

Or do cattle in Israel have the same status as cows in India?
