What we do allow is the creation of skins (texture sets), maps, and scenarios. There is however no designated interface to add vehicles, or to change them. If you want to create vehicles, you may send them to us, and if they are good, we will add them into an update after applying the vehicle properties in accordance to our tactical model.

Our main concern is to ensure the consistency of the tactical model (especially for multiplayer gaming), therefore we limit the influence of mod creators.

I know of Lightwave and 3D Studio Max, but they are very expensive pieces of software. Mekh can probably tell more if he finds the time. Haven seen him here much lately.

I wonder if models from Gmax can be used. I gather thats much cheaper(in fact its been given away with pc magasines) than the full 3dmax, though it lacks some of the fancy features.

Most likely. There are always export and import filters, so this shouldn't be too difficult.

No, there wasn't. In fact, search would only look through 1 forum at a time I think.
Find a better excuse! :P

There was quite an interesting way (easy that is :) of creating models shown on this page here for 3d studio max. http://skunkworks.free.fr/modtut.html Ive tried using these tips for gmax(though i cant find the boolian feature in Gmax), to create a british fv432, but so far all ive gotten is an odd shaped box :casstet: Something to have a bash at in the future i think when i get more time.

GMax won't work except via a roundabout conversion-to-conversion-to-conversion method that will probably wind up messing up the data. GMax is not really free; Discreet charges game companies an enormous fee to let them write an output plugin for GMax, and the program intentionally does not save in any standard format. You can't really use it for standard work, nor do they want you to, after all, they have to sell their big expensive (piece of crap) 3DSMax somehow.

Damn shame, though i guess it was predictable. Thanks Mekhazzio.

the way i use to edit terrain is this:
drow the terrine (black & white) in psp6 then save it.
open it in "brice 3D" terrain editing window (it's a really cool and helpful brogram)
apply "erode" then copy - paste it back to psp6.
save it in 8 bit 1024&1024 bmp format, then trencforme it to *.raw in SBRAW program.
then copy it to SB hight folder.

that may way of making new terrain.

Can someone please put SBRAW and SBHMC into the download section?

Well, Mekhazzio is abolutely right, game-design using GMax is quite expensive. At work we are using 3DMax as well and the models are converted using a special program that has been written by one of the developers.

There is a bit more cheap thing called Blender!! The project is OpenSource now and anyone can get a _free_ copy of it and create game content. As you can write Phyton-scripts, you can write your own exporter to your specific 3d-file format if you want. Take a look at www.blender.org and www.python.og for the script language. There is a good book available in the shop which teaches you how to create game content using the Blender... i bought it... :)

The Blender is easy to use and you can create models in there, can animate them and put textures on it and so on. You can create renderings of it and animations and after that you can use your models in a game created by blender - but this is only for the ppl interested in. Look at that site I gave you and look at all the examples. They have a 3d-plugin for the internet explorer as well avaiable.

If someone needs help with it, ask me - private message or mail.

Greetings,
Kniffo
