It's just a dream of the former Big Red War Machine, your right the CIS has little $ to spend on new tanks.
And now a question for you ,What's with your Avatar?

there is a new russian tank. i forget what they are calling it, black something i think. it uses a redeveloped t-80 body with a completely computer controlled turret. (ie no crew) it is quite state of the art. it has only 2 crew members and they sit right down in the body of the tank. apparantly for the gunner its like playing a playstation game with a fully computer controlled console. it was developed with korean money and will probably only be for export. it also has the added advantage of cutting down on the expense of training a full crew. it is a beast
there is also a next generation mbt being developed for the russian army. it is a next generation t-90 - i read somewhere that india had a financial stake in it as well....(india is also financing long range missile developement in russia) but about this there is little information. poland has also built a new mbt based on the t-72 body with a more western style turret arrangement and a massively upgraded computer system. but of this i can't find much information either. i think its called something like a gorilla?!?
money can always be found.

black eagle, chiorny arjol. :D
just can't forget that name. i've been looking after that tank ever since i first heard about it.
it's got the lowest profile ever(1,8m!!!), and ammo storage in a bustle with the autoloader.
it's probably ending up in the 50-ton class, the heaviest russian mbt this far.
here's a site with pictures and in-depth information-

thats the beast.
certainly the thermal imagers, if they are sourced in korea would make a dramatic improvement in the usability of russian tanks - and either way, if its got the t-80's basic armour with improvements, it should be a tough nut to crack anyway.
but that gun rumour is interesting... it was originally going to have a 152 mm gun... sheesh. but because its only an export tank nopw they changed it to 125 mm. that would mean i guess that the new russian mbt(which the 152mm gun was originally intended for) will surface on a proper russian tank. 152mm armour pearcing round... :casstet: they have also ensured that the tank can be up gunned easily at a later date.
as well as this, a rate of fire of 10 - 12 rounds per minute
i know most of it is rumour and heresay but... sounds like one powerful little beast.. and i am sure that any tanker in the world would be shocked to find themselves looking down the barrel at one of them.

from what i have read, a bit of both, korean(south) developed components, and the tank itself may be pretty much only for export to south korea. its not going to be used by the russian army. the company making it is a private firm. south korea already operates either t-72 or t-80, i forget which one it is...
lowest profile ever
i am taller than that tank, damn. thats astounding, are you sure about that?

Which would actually call for a 120mm tube, the K1s having that caliber. Or will the Koreans field 2 types of MBT ammo?

who knows, i wouldn't expect it to be in service for some years yet. i would imagine the k1's may even be on their way out by then.
as the koreans already operate a either the t-72 or t-80(someone here has spoken about them please remind me) they are probably already using several different sizes of ammo.

T-95 is not Black Eagle.
T-95 is a tank whit a crewless turret, funded by russian goverment money to be the new tank in the russian army. looks like shit..
Black eagle is a private investment made just for export (that is since the russians cant afford it)
Black eagle is based on a T-80 chassi (or so it's said) But there is 2 models 7 and 8 roadwheels.
The cannon is supossed to be a 130~145, but it's so secret noone really knows..

the 130-145mm cannon is the old rumours.
i personally think if they ever finds the fundings, it'll be a 152mm gun.
on this site, you will find info about an old 152mm main gun.
http://armor.vif2.ru/Tanks/ARM/M-69.html
ussr has actually serviced another 152mm gun before, during ww2.
it was a 152mm howitzer, mounted on the kv2..
and yes i know the difference between black eagle and t-95.
about the tank's height... ever thought about how low your car is?

Neither. The South Koreans operate zero Russian equipment. Their main battle tank is a M1 knock-off.... Oooooooo I just did a quick search to find out the actuall name of that "knock-off" and I see that the ROK may have actually bought T-80U and BMP-3's in the past couple years. Check this out: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/rok/army-equipment.htm
I find it pretty interesting. The ROK sure can't cry if there is a war with their norhtern brothers and they end up with a lot of fratricide agianst those BMPs and T-80's...

Sounds like it was repayment for a loan made to the Russians in 1990. Apparently they couldn't repay the loan so they are picking up the check for this equipment deal. Read this toward the bottom: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/rok/army.htm

i figured it would be something like that... they tried to clear their national debt with us a few years ago by knocking off a bunch of mig 29's. we were having none of that.
sorry i should have mentioned the black eagle isn't the t-95(or maybe i did mention just not clearly). the t-95 is the mysterious tank that the 152mm gun was intended for.
