Help me find skins! Too hard to search.

I'm trying to find woodland and desert skins to replace the stock ones, but wow, my head is spinning from doing a search. Somebody please organize the collection of skins with PREVIEW PICTURES and then categorize them by color scheme, vehicle, country, etc...

Better yet, I'll just straight out tell you what I'm looking for. I'd like standard and official camo for both desert and European environment. No dust, mud, or chevrons on skirts. And no kill marks or nicknames on gun barrels. Actually I like the stock ones but they need shadows, and I've seen some excellent mod skins that have great shadows but unfortunately have mud, dust, or some kind of marking also. So basically I'm looking for generic skins with good shadows and maybe some weathering on it.

I agree with you it is not easy to find what you are looking for. Till now we have no preview sticky post of skins that includes link of download. My advice would be: download all CZ Studios', ViPER's and Jaguar's skins and organise them all on your harddrive in folders.

Look in Pro PE Mods section under skins.

I could be wrong but I dont think Vipers skins were in the download section, I think he was doing his own thing.

how many times have we got to have a thread like this before the way files are ordered in a more useful way. this is the only magor site that supplies mods sight unseen. we need a system where we get a thumbnail of what the mod is.Or at least a sticky thread with scin pics. as we get more mods , finding what we want is only getting harder :(

I'm sure that if someone volunteers to do this, Sean would be happy to get him pointed in the right direction.

I'd greatly appreciate it if any of you can point me in the direction where I can download basically stock skins but with shadows under the turret and under turret appendages (under grenade launchers, storage baskets, etc..). Thanks!

If you guys think this is bad, you should check out most flight sims... (well, any that attract skinners.) When we get the thumbnails, that should help immensely. In the meantime, you can always use the old tried, true and trying: download, keep or delete, ad nauseam.

What you really need to do is get yourself a decent paint program,a rudimentary knowledge of working with BMP and PSD files and then download what you like even with markings and such and simply remove what you don't like. I believe that GIMP is offered for free so no cost involved there. Just your time and effort. As a prime example here are two skins that CZ Studios has offered or will offer to the community both had markings on the skirts and such. Using Photoshop the markings were removed from both vehicles in approximately 10 minutes. All that was required was the use of the airbrush.

Once you get the hang of working with the bitmaps you should be able to go to the downloads section and open the zip or rar file and view the bitmapped image and decide if it is something you would like to use. No need to download. The bitmapped image is kind of confusing the first time you look at it but once you start visualizing how it is wrapped around the polygonal model you can also visualize how it will look in the game.

yea Scrapper I sympathize with the time issue but have a go at it sometime. Do you want me to place those two clean vehicles in the dl section so you can make use of them.

What we need is a DL section with thumbnails like youve put in this thread Congo ;) I suspect more people would use skins if it wasnt such a leborious task getting the ones you like.

With the current features being run over at simhq there could be an influx of new players over here. would be nice if we could make life easier for them and bring the DL area into this century ;)

For the time being, I would recommend this: have a sticky thread for each single tank model, and make it a locked one. It then sits on top of the forum list. People send a single pic of the skin they have done, and the moderator/administrator puts it into that thread, without comment, no discussion, just a direct download link. The current stuff in the download section could be and should be reorganized that way, too. I agree, the current system is total [censored].

I asked why it is like this some weeks ago, and Sean said he has problems using the screenshot function in the download section. but that was the old forum software, I think. If I would know this kind of stuff, I would offer my help, but unfortunately I know nothing about these things.
