hello all,
does anyone here have a pic of SBPRO in use with mlilitary personnel (e.g training classroom)?
if there is a brief summary of the use of it by armed forces around the globe, that would be nice as well...

Seems as though they have the ability, in their version, to view the battlefield from a bird's eye view. Is this available in PE or only in the military versions?
that's the instructor view yes.. only in mil. version.

Picture from Swedish Army Combat School with a test set up.
The gunner position with some of the devices used for test and training.
Gunner handle for Leo2 from AFVSim. To the left, the Ergodex DX-1 programmable keyboard with simplified commands. The touch screen to the right with TouchBuddy software and the gunner panel. The screen to the left used for map view. Internal radio brought into the standard crew helmets.
Not to forget - to the right the eSim mouse pad ;-)
This set up is going through some tests to define the set up for coming TacLabs.

So you use 2 PC for a station? (one for SB and the panel, and one for the map)
That how I play at home (2 dongle)

Yes. It's the only way at the moment to have both map and eye/sight-view.

the vid and pic were enough, thanks.
but i would love to hear comments from tankers who used this sim and if they can try and rate how productive it is, and what it's strongpoints are (gunner-commander routines , company level , battalion level ect.)
i opened this thread in order to gather some info for a debate about armor simulators and comparison to the products we use nowdays in the IDF.

another question that i have is for the development team , if i may.
in tha case of a client that likes your product, but has a completly different array of platforms and wants to add features that do not exist, which requires a development effort in a direction the company didn't plan for (urban areas , insurgants with various ATGM systems etc.), are you capable of lifting such a project and what are the time frames?

Hope it works, it's pretty old, does any one remember?

Depending how advanced simulators you got, you could consider it as one of the steps on the "training stairway". It can be used as gunner, TC, commander trainer as well as a company or batallion training and rehearsal tool. Before the crew enter the more advanced sim:s they could train basics, crew communication and tactical thinking in SBPro and would be more well trained and get more out of the hours spent in the advanced ones.
SBPro have a very strong and useful terrain editor tool that allows you to import shape and DTED files. This makes it easy to implement your training or mission area by your own. The mission editor is easy to use and make it possible for commanders to implement their tactical plans that can be tested in the virtual world.
Therefore it is very easy to use the sim in the daily training with use of real terrain in the morning and the sim in the afternoons.
Use of internet or intranet make it possible to connect nationwide "TacLabs" and conduct commander or unit training before a live exercise or mission. Because it's spread in many nations, there is no really limit for international training events.
The sim is under development almost every day with more and more features and vehicles. You will gain from other nations developments as well and I think people would like to see the Merkava as well ;-)
I recommend you to contact Ssnake for more information.

It works and that was interesting indeed. Kind of neat to see that a sim I have on my personal PC is utilized like that by real world military. I did like the "tank turret" they had constructed for the students. Got to build myself something like that.:smile2: Wife would put me in the looney bin though...:bangin:

If you want to fly a tanker and SB user to Israel to do a sales pitch, I'll volunteer!
We had a couple of laptops at the table last drill, it got some heavy usage.

Wish I could invite you all for a quick tour at the golan hights.
meanwhile i'll settle for an MP session, once i'll get to it- I still try to shake up the images of those white Leclercs...
BTW - iv'e seen that there's a lobby for a crewable T72 , any chance of forming such a Lobby for the Merkava? ;)

If you first lobby the IDF to buy SB Pro and are successful you'd probably see the Merkava in game before the T-72:wink2:
(......... And I'll shut up now before any of the T-72 fan club hire a hitman..... )
We are watching you Jester.....

It'd certainly add to multiplayer matches for a player to be able to run around as the Big Bad Soviet in a T-72.
