Ssnake, pretty please with sugar on top, make us PE owners able to import some form of shape data to the map editor before I go totaly bonkers.. :debile2:
Or is there another way of doing the roads, fields, woods without me handpainting it.. as it just take forever to do the 50km2 maps..

In many ways he does have a point. Putting in fields etc does take a long time. Stu I guess you are more than aware of that!

Absolutely! I think there are a few features in SB Pro which would make things easier. For example there is a shootlist where you can pick out a number of buildings, put them all into one orientation, and then place them. That would make towns a LOT easier. I dont begrudge it missing in Sb pro pe though. Pro costs more money, and the military are more likely to make maps anyway.
Its true I can see lots of room for improvement in the map editor. The postive side is, l cant recall seeing another map editor in any other sim that was as easy to use.
Even if you could load in sat data, there would still be a lot of correcting to do as you would have to manually alter buildings. I dont think it would save an awful lot of effort, particularly if you have large urban areas.
My advice is to pick a small area with and do it to death. One of my early maps was Ludwigslust in East Germany (I really ought to release that sometime) which I think was only about 10km by 15km. Having a good map it was pretty easy to do on an sb1 map with similar terrain.
Short answer is, pick a small project first before getting disheartened on something big.
