Hello there everyone,

Im sure you have seen plenty of these posts before :)

But I just wanted to say a quick hello as I have just purchased a copy of Steel Beasts Pro PE, im in the UK so its going to take a while to get here.

I have done plenty of reading on this forum and around a few other sites containing information which lead to my purchase, as quite frankly im really impressed by what this simulation has to offer. The last tank sim I have played was the M1A2 tank platoon series which I had great fun playing around with. I have yet to see any tank sim which takes tanking as seriously and to a detailed level that Steel Beasts appears to, so im quite excited to see first hand what Steel Beasts has to offer.

I enjoy sims such as Falcon 4.0, but I am quite into military wargames such as Steel Panthers and Combat Mission, so it will be nice to get my hands on a tank for my own control for once :)

I was also just wondering if I could grasp some opinions from you the community members on what you make of Steel Beasts and from your own personal experiences what I can expect when the product hits my doorstep. If you dont mind me asking of course

Are there any tutorials or manual material I can be reading while waiting for my copy to arrive?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to engaging in more conversation with you all about this excellent looking sim!

Cheers :drink:

Expect to say goodbye to all your free time. Your wife could leave you and you wouldn't even notice..... (translation: It's very very good!)

The tutorials and manual that come with SBProPE are very good. Once installed there's also a selection of PDF documents for you to read through if you wish. There's also a selection of PDF documents in sownloads section of this site, including US army field manuals that are now in the public domain. I've personally found them well worth reading and would suggest you have a look-see what's there.

The "anti frustration kit" (check under the online play heading at the top of the page) is very useful if you're planning to go online.

Hope this helps to give you a starting point.

Hehe my other half is a fan of Steel Panthers, so as long as I find time to play a few turns with her shes happy

Thanks for the heads up on the extra material located on this site, looks like I have a bit of reading to do, which is fine with me, most things that I buy for the PC requires a bit of sit down time and extra reading, so that sounds good to me. Any simulation that requires a bit of outside reading like this is worth its weight in gold from my experience!

I look forward to getting my hands on the manual, I trust it is in book form not PDF? its so hard to find a sim\game that actually comes with a proper paper manual these days!

Thanks for your pointers and ideas Jester, ill get on it! I have a few weeks off of work due to not being able to walk very far at the moment, so im sure I can squeeze some time in!

Very helpful!

Cheers

Yes paperback manual included.

Now thats just what I wanted to hear!

I have not long bought the Dangerous Waters ring bound manual, to defeat the annoyance of the PDF!!

ALLO ALLO is a classic and will never die haha! I thought it would be fitting since that guy likes sitting in his little tank :)

Thanks for your welcome!

Your quite right, I need to get in as much reading as possible to give me a head start for when it arrives!!

Jester - haha thats an excellent picture, gave me a laugh for sure, that thing reminds me of a minature version of the WWII vickers vehicle! is it considered a punishment I wonder to be assigned command of one of these?!:)

Cheers lads

You play the Combat Mission games, stalintc? Sweet deal, dude. Those are some quality titles. 5 or so years since Beyond Overlord was released and I STILL play it.

Anyway... SB Pro PE is an awesome purchase, with a shitload of replay value. You have all the tools necessary to create your own missions and scenarios, too.
