Saw the pic of the Stryker on the main page of SB Pro shots and was wondering if this vehicle was comming?

Even if it is A.I. only at this point it would be nice. :)

In other words, no. Why would any new U.S. vehicles be developed when the military hasn't bought into SB?

...at least that's the message I get whenever anyone asks about the M1A2 and M2A3. <cry>

I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine.

Unless the US Army or Marines buys into the sim then I see it being ruled by Europe until SB2 comes out in the year 2036.

We Americans have to get our shiite together!!!! Let's all write our congressmen.

LOL... Unfortunately, eSim would have to somehow thwart and conduct a hostile takeover of the contract that the US military pays to whichever company runs and maintains that UCOFT (Unit Conduct of Fire Trainer) system we use.

Already has been for a long time. 172 IN BDE SEP in Alaska was preparing for transition in 2001 already!

http://www.wainwright.army.mil/sites/tenants I think our sister unit 2-1 has actual pics in their link.

1-17 use to be my old unit. :)

The Stryker is an interim concept. It is not intended as a permanent fix. This will sound crazy, but the Stryker is designed and intended to be recyclable. The engine is a standard CAT engine used in our new trucks. The remote controlled gun station as the entire FBCB2 system can easily be moved to other platforms. Driver’s Thermal imagery system? Same deal. The point is that the Stryker is not that expensive to begin with (Example: The ambulance version with all its modifications is $1.9 million a unit).

Many of the high ticket items can be recapitalized on in the future. The gun on the MGS is an older tube (M68A1; literally pre-existing hardware that was lying around) and even the wheels can eventually be reused, which BTW the tire inflation system can be used on other platforms that use this as well (HEMTT for example). Near everything on a Stryker can be used reused on systems we know will still be around for a while. Why do I focus so much on recapitalization? Because the US Army does not intend on keeping this vehicle for a long time.

The Stryker fills an immediate need. Somalia, the Balkans, and today Iraq have demonstrated this need and Stryker is doing well. In 1999 is when the wheels in the Stryker project really began turning with full force and they wanted something quickly, Stryker being low risk (A proven platform) was the best option. Canada and the Marines have been using them for years, and the means to produce them rapidly is there. The risk of major design or technological failure is low. It fills that need which we need filled ‘today’!

PS- I know what your real quaestion was, but I thought I'd through this fun segway into the mix.
