I just got SBPro and want to use scenarios, etc. from SB1. I have read the manual and partially understand the file structure. What would help me a lot is an explanation of the file suffixes and where they go. I.e. I know what a .sce file is and where it goes, but what about .rar, .ace. Also, as I look in my old SB1 files I see a bunch of what I think are jpegs under in the scenario folder (I can't tell because I have photoshop icons on them). this would be not in action or multi folders but right in the scenario file. what are these? Most of them have the same names as those in the action folder. Actually, what would really be good is the list of suffixes of all map and scenario files and what they mean and where they go.

Right click on the jpegs in your scenario folder. Select properties. If the extension is *.pln, then those are the saved plan files that correspond with the indicated scenarios.

*.rar is a compressed file that requires a decompression utility, such as winrar, to open it. A lot of the files that are uploaded to the website are compressed as *.rar's or *.zip's.

If you are running Windows XP, putting your mouse over the file icon will tell you what file-type you're looking at, and what size the file is.

In general, SB uses files with the extensions *.pln, *.sce, *.jpg, *.wav, *.htm, *.hgt, *.ter, *.txt, and *.thm.

*.pln and *.sce extensions usually go with scenarios, so do *.txt files as they usually contain the briefings for scenarios.

*.jpg and *.wav extensions mainly concern sounds and graphics, particularly mods to both/either.

*.hgt, *.ter, and *.thm extensions are used by the game to generate maps, terrain, and customizable properties associated with them.

Importing a scenario from SB:G to SB-ProPE can be a tricky undertaking; there was a thread speaking to this matter but I don't recall handily where it is or what it talked about. I advise having a word with folks who have imported old scenarios into the new format, they'll likely give you lots of good advice.
