Hello -- I am so new to this sim the mailman has yet to deliver it. :debile2: Having been a rather hardcore flight sim piolt for some time I have grown pretty fond of my HOTAS setup. The only tank sim I have ever played around with is the demo for T72 Balkans on Fire. (curious how that will compare to SPproPE ? ) A quick search of any flight sim board and you will find all kinds of posts involving what everyones desktop setup looks like. What is preferable for Tank Sims? A Joystick or a Yoke?
I was considering ordering a new CH Yoke because but I guess I don't really know what is used inside a tank to drive it and fire it.
Anyways I will be killing you guys with more questions from here on I am sure. It was nice talking to some of you in Teamspeak tonight.
Thanks!

Neither! (IMHO) Also a sim pilot myself - but I swear by the mouse in SB, and have used it since day one with the original Steel Beasts. I have configured some of the multitude of buttons on my mouse though, but that's it. I have a Cougar with HE sensors, and have tried it, but I just can't match the speed of use of the mouse, especially since it's also used a lot for map/other controls which is important.
SB Pro is far superior to T72 BOF in my opinion. But of course we're all biased here!

I am also new to SBPE and initially used the mouse and keyboard (Z-Board) for control. I have recently purchased a Belkin Nostromo controller keypad and am very pleased with it. Most every command needed is at my fingertips. Profiles can be configured very easily, will autoload the profile when you start the application and was less than $40. For an old, slow guy like me it helped.

A yoke is a pain for SBP, it works not the same way like the grips they use to have in tanks.
Using CH Fighterstick and ProThrottle myself. Two-layered command profile, allows easy use of mouse as well (panning around, only rarely shoot with it).
I say go for CH HOTAS. Also, extremly good quality and long lifetime. I use mine since 8 or 9 years.

I'm using something like a HOTS, a CH Fighterstick and a Belkin gamepad modified for FPS. It's bolted to the desktop, so I just starting using it.

i've attached my configuration - it's for the old STEELBEASTS, but most of the keys are the same i guess.
i used the shift key to allocate twice the functions - check it out.
with the flightstick pro at the other hand, the only keys remains unmapped (yet) , are the movement/tactical and some other minor functions.
