Is it a feature that co/xo can read messages sent to a platoon?
If not, could it be because co/xo was created from a divided unit?

Probably the latter.
okiee... would make sense yes. It was not my scenario, so I cannot confirm the divided part. However looking at it, it would make sense indeed.
This info might be useful for the future scenarios, so that designer can provide private ch for HQ members.

Wouldn’t be the first time the CO monitored a Troop or Squadron net.

Was my scenario and it was me that was affected.
The Xo vehicle was 5/A when I added a new unit, and then changed to XoA, but Vatis was 2/A.
Dont know if that makes any sence, But hell I was confused of reading Slovenian and seeing [Platoon] as reciever! :P
