I launched a long session this afternoon. I tend to play missions carefully, sneaky, move by move, like chess, planning for all eventualities. I may take long time, but my loss ratios are sensationally low. :D

But then, after roughly two hours, I realised that I would not be able to finish the match, for I was interested in an ebay auction, and the time was near. So: I paused, and switched to desktop, then went online, and visited ebay. I forgot that the match was running, so I updated all my scanners, and ran them one by one while doing the kitchen work. Before that, I downloaded a 20 minutes IL-2 movie and watched it. Then I came back and started a short session with Words, writing two letters, then printing a birthday card via Paint Shop Pro. It was a big picture, surely stressing the memory and using the swap file. Somewhere in between all this, I visited this forum twice. I finished everything else, and two and a half hours later I started to defragmentize my drives (on weekend it is computer cleanup over here, I have several partitions). not until now I remembered that I had a match running in the background, so I spared the partition where SBP was installed, and clicked myself back into the match.

The sim went on as if no interruption ever had happened.

I'm impressed!

Well, much of the praise is deserved by the Microsoft programmers (ahem, yes: They do a good job on occasion). I don't want to say that we're "just" using function calls of the OS, but stability in multitasking environments does depend to a large degree on the operating system.
