Sorry german Tanker ;-)
Iīve some dump questions on the "Who is Who" in a Bradley Platoon:
When the Platoon dismount, where do the NCOīs and the Platon Leader go? Is the Master Gunner a Squad Leader, for example, then ??
They build up only 3 Infantery Squads, so where did the Riflemen come from (only 3 Bradley dismount Troops or did they mix the Troops from different IFV ?)
Have all the Vehicles the same Wappons on board (Javelin,AT4 etc....)
Are there "Sharpshooters" in the Platoon ??
Who stay mounted, when dismounted ??
What Rank are the Wingman ??

Hi Eisenschwein,
some questions might be answered in the corresponding field manual "FM 3-21.71 MECHANIZED INFANTRY PLATOON AND SQUAD (BRADLEY)".
See chapter 1-7. Dismounted Element.

eisen,
lot of it depends on unit. for us we do have designated sharpshooters and a snipre as dismounts. For a scout bradley plt of 6 vehicles, the squad leader is normally a sergeant or junior staff sergeant where the section sergeant would be a staff sergeant. the Squad leader has his own bradley and acts as wingman for the section sergeant. platoon internal for most part would have same weapons on board. now plt here might have dif ammo then a plt in different troop, but for most part is pretty much the same. on the m3 cav bradley there are only two dismounts as that is all they can carry where as the M2 can carry moret roops, but the M2 doesnt carry as much ammo as the M3. (main difference is amount of tows each carries, M2 carries 2 in launcher and 2 in back whereas M3 carries 2 in launcher and 10 in back). As far as who dismounts, that is dependant on unit also. Normally units i been in the dismounts in the back would dismount and one of the bradley cokmmanders might also depending on what the mission is. The gunner and Driver stays with the bradley at all times. The gunner is normally the senior Enlisted, E-4 or a sergeant so he can take control of the bradley when the bradley commander is dismounted.

Thanks Mate for answering dump questions ;-)
What I donīt understand is the following grafik. A M2 plt has a strenght of 36 total and a dismount of 27. So all Leaders must dismount too.
For example, the Section Leader become to what? Is he the 2nd Squad Leader ??

That graphic displays a platoon of 40 and a dismount section of 28. Each vehicles holds 7 dismounts, except the PL's vehicle, which carries an alternate gunner. When the platoon dismounts, the PL goes with them, his gunner becomes BC and the alternate gunner takes the gunner's place. Then, the PSG becomes leader of both vehicle sections and the platoon master gunner takes charge of the A section.
It is possible that the Bradley platoons are now 36 soldiers, but that would require the total number of dismounts to decrease to 24, and would need a different graphic.

Chaplain hit it on the head. You can look at this table also to see whos the mounted element and whos the dismounted:
Mounted (exception: PL does NOT stay mounted, typically dismounts, that lazy bastard.. well wherever he can lead the best from anyways)

Dismounted
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/3-21-71/figa-2.gif
- Wingman (BC's) are typically E-5 SGT's.
- One note for "where's the AT-4, Jav, etc)
Notice there are no machine gunner or AT teams. In the old M113 PLT's there was a whole 4th weapons squad with 2 x M-60/240B teams and 2 x Dragon/Javelin teams. Since the M2's cant hold all those guys, they got rid of the heavy dismounts.
Typically, however, there is usually a Medium MG (M240B) and a AT-4 or 2 in each track, or at the very least every other.
- There are typically 2 x sniper rifles in a Company, and those get divvied up per the commander. So a PLT may or may not have a sniper rifle.
Hope that helps. Id like to find out what a German Meh PLT has, or a text or picture or something with the same questions if anyone has that laying around
