General

Currently the largest, heaviest, and arguably best protected wheeled armored multipurpose vehicle in service, the Gepanzertes Transport Kraftfahrzeug (GTK) Boxer (aka MRAV [Multi-Role Armored Vehicle]) serves with the German (2011) and Dutch (2010) armies in a variety of roles. The Boxer system consists of an independent 8x8 chassis containing the driver, engine, and automotive components, and a number of separate "mission modules" such as IFV, APC, command post, and medical treatment, all of which can be swapped in less than an hour. To increase battlefield survivability the Boxer utilizes a double-lined hull shaped to minimize blast damage, thick top armor, and thermal and acoustic dampening to reduce the vehicle's signature. Though unarmed by default, this vehicle may be equipped with various remote weapon stations including the Lemur, generic 0.50 Cal RWS, M151 Protector (NL) or M153 Protector .

This vehicle is fully crew-able at the Commander's (F7), Gunner's (F6 if equipped with a RWS), Driver's (F9), and Squad Leader's (F11) positions, but only partially modeled with basic interior views.

Beginning with version 3.002 of Steel Beasts Professional this vehicle is available with Combat Engineering capacity in addition to its role as an APC. As an Engineer vehicle it may mark cleared paths through mine fields, carry barrier material (concertina wire rolls), and construct wire obstacles in a manner identical to the M113G3 Engineer, although it may not tow a MICLIC trailer.

As an APC, the Boxer can lift a dismount section of 8 men, equipped with 2 M136 (AT-4) light anti-armor weapons, an MG3, and 5.56mm rifles. When deployed as an engineering vehicle, the Boxer carries an 8 man pioneer section equipped with 5.56mm rifles.
