enigma6584
Hey Gents, got a question regarding how AI acts as forward observers for artillery batteries. When one of my AI FO's sees an enemy unit, how long does it need before it actually requests a strike on that particular target? In other words, how long should I keep them at that location before they move along another route? Should there be a particular length of time an AI scout stays at a location before they are told (by me via scripting) to move on?
DarkAngel
I think if you have AI call for fire enabled the FO is almost superfluous. Any AI unit will call for fire and pretty quickly.

Well I'd argue that you need to wait until the rounds land and you can allow time for a "BDA" type assessment or at least make adjustments, etc. But I guess if you want to call fire and then move before you can adjust, etc. then its up to you. As to a finite "XX secs to call a mission" sorry have no idea.
enigma6584
Okay, so basically if I wanted to keep it real or as real as I can, leave them there for 4-5 minutes. At least that is what I'm thinking would be a compromise. Thank you all for comments.
Azure Lion
I have seen the AI call arty seemingly instantly upon spotting, as well as take a few minutes. It seems to be based on a mix of contingencies and randomness from what I can tell.
Members Ssnake
Target must be stationary, and guns must be available. If there is a long queue of requests there may be delays larger than about 2:30.
