They shoot more accurately, have better stamina, and are better at necromancy (our approximation of administering first aid).

Yes, and to elaborate on Ssnake's post...

 

The idea is to expand the unit quality type feature in the future, of course, but for now it does the following...

 

1. Conscript has average stamina whilst moving, while higher will have more, and lower will have less (essentially Regular and Elite will each tire slower than the other, while Militia and Untrained will tire quicker than the other, the latter being intentionally damn near useless). This can be a HUGE advantage depending on the relative quality levels of both sides.

 

2. Each level is more accurate than the other. An Elite sniper team is pretty deadly. Again, could be a big advantage based on relative quality levels on both sides.

 

3. Medics have a higher probability to "heal" depending on their quality.

 

...of course the best thing to do is to setup a surrender if condition based on the unit's quality. So, a Militia unit might surrender if random variable NEW is 0 to 40, and that unit's strength is < 50%, while Untrained might be the same but when random variable NEW is between 0 and 80. Conscript could be 0 to 20. Regular might be 0 to 10 and Elite would have no surrender condition at all.
