Can't start SB4 on Win10 Simplified Chinese OS with Crashdump

I know this was discussed in the pinned topic, but no one in that post seems to upload any crashdump, so I decided to do a bunch of them for devs to investigate as this is really annoying for us to switch between non-unicode system locale when we wish to play it properly.

 

Crashes trying to start with debug mode:

SBProPE64cm.exe.7420.dmp

SBProPE64cm.exe.11788.dmp

Crashes trying to start with safe mode:

SBProPE64cm.exe.10384.dmp

SBProPE64cm.exe.4472.dmp

Crash trying to start normally:

SBProPE64cm.exe.10796.dmp

Ugh.

 

Looks like we "shot ourselves in the foot" here.

 

Remember that we're preaching about "don't use file- or directory names with special characters!" all the time? Turns out we're actually distributing SB with some directory names with special characters... and this is causing SB to crash when running with a non-english non-unicode system locale. Hrm.

 

Could you please try this as a workaround:

 

With your system set to your usual Chinese non-unicode locale, navigate to your SB installation dir and check the "loc" folder. In there, remove all the folders with special or corrupt characters (e.g. "Español" or "Français"). Now try to start SB again.

 

Please let us know whether this works or not, we'll adjust SB once we know that this is indeed the cause for the crashes.

After deleting every localization other than English, it does works! Now everything is functioning normally
