Gibsonm
Today marks the 100th anniversary of a key date for UK and Commonwealth armoured forces (don't worry Americans, you can catch up tomorrow). The Battle of Cambrai. One hundred years ago the fledgling UK Tank Corps was given an opportunity to prove their worth after some initial piecemeal deployments and less than stellar performances. The massed tanks achieved a penetration of the Hindenburg Line but unfortunately they lacked the support and reserves to exploit it. Nevertheless this battle secured the future of the tank force and gave some hope to the phrase "From mud, through blood to the green fields beyond', that had so eluded the forces since the war had moved to the static, trench warfare phase. If you are unaware of Cambrai, can a I recommend you invest 30mins and watch this: "Fear Naught" Edited November 19, 2017 by Gibsonm
