Where am I and what I need to get up to date?

Assuming you don't have SB installed and just want to check which SB license you have on your dongle, just download and install the latest CodeMeter runtime:

http://codemeter.com/us/service/downloads.html

Plug in your CodeMeter dongle, open the CodeMeter control center, and then press the WebAdmin button on the bottom right. That should open up your browser and show your licences:

If you've got a SB 2.5 or 2.6 license you can upgrade to 4.0 directly for $40: http://www.esimgames.com/?page_id=1361

One thing you should probably do before upgrading the license is update the firmware on the dongle using the CodeMeter control center. It's the circular arrow below the pencil and light bulb buttons (if you hold the mouse over the button a tool-tip will pop up saying it's the update firmware button.

Do note that the system requirements for SB 4 are significantly higher than 2.6: http://www.esimgames.com/?page_id=841

As far as old release notes go, I'd check the initial 3.0 release notes: https://www.esimgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/SBProPE_3_Release_Notes.pdf

And here's the inital 4.0 release notes: http://www.steelbeasts.com/updates/SBProPE_4-0_RN.pdf

Or you could go to the link I already provided.

Don't worry I've deleted the post since it wasn't being read.
