Rotareneg
Areas filled with the map editor fill tool don't line up with the actual elevation. The city.hgt height map makes this very clear: Edited January 2, 2018 by Rotareneg Originally thought it was the contour lines themselves that were wrong, oops.
DarkAngel
will investigate... Thanks
Rotareneg
I took another closer look and it looks like it's actually the fill tool that's messing up and not following elevations correctly. The 3D world agrees with what the map shows, with the filled terrain "spilling" past elevation changes exactly as shown, so the contour lines/shading are correct.
DarkAngel
I bet it has been this way for a long time. What map is it you used for this test?
Rotareneg
The screenshot used city.hgt.

Rotareneg
Just noticed this problem still exists up to 4.259. I know the map editor needs a total overhaul, but this seems like a relatively simple to fix (famous last words) off-by-one error.
Members Ssnake
Unfortunately it turned out to be not a simple off-by-one error. The guys worked on it and actually spent a fair bit of time on the issue but apparently it was more complex, and eventually I pulled the plug since we had a lot of other things to work on, and it appeared to be a somewhat tolerable if irritating quirk.
