SITREP as at 22 Mar 18 (D-9):

Mission 1 should be with me tonight.

By this weekend, my time, I should have all three missions up for the respective commanders to start planning and will be issuing orders as the Blue OC for mission 1 (as I built 2 and 3 and am running Red, someone else will be COing Blue and Blue / Green).

Then we have a week for COs to co-ord their people prior to execution.

There are still vaccanicies for anyone interested in attending.

New players, don't be intimidated by the scope of the activity. Just can ask to command a single vehicle if that is what you are comfortable with.

Good news: I have Mission 1.

Not so good news: It isn't quite complete.

So I'll need to edit a couple of things and then we should be right.

Orders, etc. will still be out by Sunday just means I'm busy tonight (and may miss TGIF too) now. :)

OPERATIONS ORDER – PREDATOR’S GALLOP

Situation:

Date: 12 SEP 90
Time: 2100 GMT/Zulu (0800 Local)
Location: WILLIAMSON AIRFIELD, Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA), Queensland.

General:

Gentlemen, as you know some hours ago an unknown enemy force landed in vicinity of (IVO) SABINA POINT.

Our training activity has become a Defence of Australia task to determine the extent of this lodgement and where possible impose delay while the remainder of the Brigade (BDE) move to initially create a block and then expel the force.

Through a Herculean effort the Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM) and Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant (SQMS) have been able to arrange an ammunition resupply exchanging blank and Prac for live, with a second first line in the Squadron Echelon.

Similar efforts have ensured that a battery of 155s (and their ammunition) have been airlifted into the Range and we have limited access to Air operating from AMBERLEY.

Enemy:

Unconfirmed reports identify the force to be Soviet / OPFOR based in terms of major equipments (T-55AM, PT-76, BTR60PB, and BRDM2 being identified).

The S2 has confirmed that we are likely to be facing a Naval Infantry Battalion, likely reinforced with Divisional and Regimental specialist assets (Recon, ATGM, AARMD and AD) as well as fixed and rotary wing (attack and transport).

In more good news, the 2nd Echelon for this landing is expected to consist of a Motor Rifle Battalion (T-72 and BTR-80). We do not have confirmed reports of these equipments ashore as yet though.

These forces appear to be consolidating in the bridgehead prior to breaking out.

The Immediate Objective for this force is assessed to be the KAPYONG / WILLIAMSON area (OBJ SILVER).

The Subsequent Objective for this force is assessed to be the GREY ROUTE / STANAGE BAY ROAD as the Main Effort with the COAST and NORTH SOUTH ROADS as Supporting Efforts.

It is assessed that the Naval Infantry Battalion consists of:
1 x Tank Company, equipped with T-55AM
3 x Naval Infantry Companies, equipped with BTR60PB

It is assessed that the Motor Rifle Battalion consists of:
1 x Tank Company, equipped with T-72
3 x Motor Rifle Companies, equipped with BTR-80

The landing force are likely to be supported by naval gun fire support initially and tube artillery once ashore as well as air support.

It is assessed that the attacks on the Immediate or Subsequent Objectives will be supported by a possible air mobile insertion using rotary wing and attack and transport.

Friendly:

In addition to the Sqn we have:

One battery of six 155mm guns in support (HE and Smoke only) and access to CAS.
One flight of 4 x KIOWA from 161 Recce Sqn.

Civilians:

There are no civilians in the TAOR. There is one member of the Range staff providing limited information via the Range Net.

Mission: B, 2CAV will SECURE TAOR COURAGE, IOT, prevent Breakout from the bridgehead and gain time for follow on AS units.

PM with link to a "planning" scenario file sent to key participants.

This is only be good for doing a recon with. It will let you look at the ground (but does not have any OPFOR units) so you can plot routes and work out times to locations, get an understanding of your unit capabilities, etc.

Do not make a plan file based on this as it is not the scenario file we will use on the night.

Welcome!

There are three discrete missions (this thread is dedicated to Mission 1) so depending on when you arrive, you'll be assigned a job in the respective scenario.

Running into a time problem here. Can't be on the first mission....but would like to be in the second one. Are there any estimates when battle No#2 will start?

Hope to be there!

Have fun guys...and remeber: Even if the enemy presses hard, always play clean and fair...just like the australian cricket team ;-)
