Companion
Just remembered the new T-72 armor model posted before by dejawolf while daydreaming... (the attached file) 1. Are the numbers vs KE values? 2. Why are some numbers connected by summation sign? 3. Is there any way that an end user like me can access the graphical armor model information like the one attached? 4. If not, will someone be kind enough to update the SB wiki with armor model screenshots? (as in Abrams and T-72M1 SB wiki entries)
Moderators Volcano Posted February 25, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 25, 2009 I plan to update the vehicle's wiki page with the updated armor model screen shots (to replace the old ones). Unfortunately, I have a lot of other things to do first.I am not sure where that image came from (from an old thread I guess), but the values shows are for KE values.
Companion
One more question: how should I interpret the gap between outer shell and inner, colored shell? And yes, the picture is from an old thread about unusually hardy T-72s in game.
GH_Lieste
Outer skin is thin, triggers hits, represents the target size.Inner skin is thicker (in places), needs to be penetrated where it exists in order to cause serious internal damages, represents the protected volume (ie crew spaces etc). The 'gap' is due to this two skin approximation of the armour.Previously the target was represented by an equivalent armour amount only on the outer skin which overestimated the vulnerable area - most thinner areas still use this method as it is faster.
