You couldnt make this up!

Ok,next UK Bank holiday if you want to travel from Kettering to London(a trip that usually takes an hour)DONT.

Due to Engineering works it will take a smidge longer..........................18 hours in total to be exact!

The suggested 18-hour route would have taken passengers through Derby, Crewe and Rugby before a five hour wait in Milton Keynes. A trip that should last just over an hour will become a 295-mile odyssey, involving seven changes, five bus journeys and a trip on the London Underground.

Passengers attempting to book a seat to London St Pancras on the operator's website are being advised to catch the 1.35pm train to Derby and then transfer onto a bus to Blythe Bridge.

Four more bus journeys – including visits to Crewe, Stafford and Rugby – would get them to Milton Keynes by 11.20pm on Saturday night.

After snatching a few hours sleep on the station floor, travellers would be able to catch a train to the capital at 4.53am, finally getting to their destination by Tube at 8.01am after transferring at London Euston.

The cost of the journey – not including accommodation – is listed as between £40.50 and £67.

yes, definitely use a bike over that... jesus.

it'd still be 2-3 hours on a bike but you'd get there within the day, and for free.

and thats if you're fat and out of shape like me ;)

Yep, UK rail system - best in the world! ;)

I've lost track of how many weekend trips have been ruined by engineering works, train and signal failures. And if you drive you're hit by traffic jams on the M25, roadworks etc.

Can't win!
