armytanker
in march of 1969 outside a special forces camp near the cambodian border, a regiment of NVA had attacked and the 1st battalion 69th Armor, which was attatched to the 4th infantry back then engaged and destroyed a column of Russian made pt-76 tanks. My dad who happen to had been involved in that fight (B co 1-69th) was there and took some pictures of the aftermath and some during the onslaught. jut a kool thing i thought some would find interesting. By the way in the news paper article you see "Thats Me!" that was actually my dad standing there in the pic. (he has the original photo) the tank of choice then was the m48a3

Hackworth
Great pics Panther. I was reading about his battle the other day. Most people aren't aware armor even served in Vietnam, much less that the North used them offensively. Some missions depicting the fall of Saigon in '75 would be cool too. Lots of armor action there. My first TC was a Vietnam vet that wore the 4th ID patch... But, he had been a transportation specialist then or whatever they refer to the truck drivers...Thanks again for posting these pics.PS. Notice how thin that armor around the hull looks? The dang things were just shredded apart...like cardboard boxes.

DarkAngel
Panther Not quite true there. From what i've read it was the only US vs NVA tank battle of the vietnam war. However i think you'll find the ARVN and NVA mixed it up at least once too ( around Dak To )

Rusty Armstrong
I was aware of this battle some time ago although not well known. With your permission IÂ would like to use photos for an article in The Ivy Leaves quarterly magazine of the 4th INF DIV Association. I also have some photos taken by someone who was at Camp Enari in Pleiku when they brought in their trophy PT 76. I can send these to you if you would like. All my best!
