bigmo692002
I wonder if there is a way to play the M1A2 SEP using the M1A1 gunnery model. I know simulations like LockOn Modern Air Combat (I know they are two different similations) can do it. Does anyone have any knowledge or imput on this. Thanks in advance.
Members Ssnake
It isn't possible.Maybe we will enable something like it if there is a strong demand, but I'd rather avoid cranking out Frankentanks.
bigmo692002
If I can drum up the desire to do such a mod, can it be done? I am not the only one who wants this. I guess I am the only one brave enough to ask the right people. I am not one to ask for this and then turn around and ask for that because someone did one thing for me. I am pretty content. I served in the army and I was on the SEP tank and it would mean the world to me to have that. I wish I was computer programming savvy so I could do it myself and present it as a gift to the great community of fans and sim owners we have here.
Hunt3r
Well, I hope the actual M1A2 SEP model is playable within the next 2 releases...

OnAlienware
I have a far more modest request: bring the M1A1 up to the SA standard. Not even the Iraqis or National Guard use the previous-millenium model in PE.
Stratos
The case of the T-72 is not the same cause we don't have anything that seems a T-72 in terms of gunnery... Or it was the Centauro that close to the T-72M4?

Not even the Iraqis or National Guard use the previous-millenium model in PE.It may be true, but I seriously doubt that no National Guard units anywhere use anything less than the SA version of the M1A1 (at their home station, not in Iraq or Afghanistan -- those are in country tanks). Just 8 years ago where were still some NG units using the M1IP - I admit I have been out of the loop for a while.

Moderators Volcano Posted January 8, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 8, 2011 http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/wsh2010/16.pdfhttp://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/wsh2011/16.pdfSeems that ARNG is reciving M1A1SA's and also will recieve M1A2SEP's.Well, to be clear, I wasn't saying the NG is not fielding M1A1(SA)s, I was saying that it is a stretch to say (at the current time) that the NG is wholly using at least that variant right now. The NG still has M1A1s, be it Ds, HAs, HCs, and probably some M1IPs even still although the latter is probably not very likely, except for some smaller states that may still have tanks. Those links do prove the point, the NG is still using older variants.
Stratos
IIRC the M-60 we have and the M1 we have share the same fire control?
Members Ssnake
They are similar I learned, but not identical.
Stratos
I see thanks for the clarification. So we better forget about this right?
Members Ssnake
For the immediate future, yes. But I'm not refusing this option flat-out for eternity. There may be conditions that will allow us to implement playable M60s, one day.
mpow66m
I hope you are playing the lottery, that way when u win u can implement everything on The List in one fell swope!

Members Ssnake
I'm sorry for always being so terribly vague in my wording. But there always is a discrepancy between intent and ability to act. I can't promise anything here because so much always depends on the circumstances. That doesn't mean that our development wanders aimlessly on an erratic course dictated by opportunity. Looking back the past decade, I think that all in all we stayed a pretty clear course. But I want to avoid repeat performances à la T-72 by creating high expectations that we couldn't fulfill (yet). I rather bombard you with good news in the weeks prior to releasing a new version than to take back in penny packs the bombastic announcements at the begin of a development phase.
Stratos
I know that, was simply to add some humour.
Members Ssnake
...and I got it. My reply was directed more towards those who might take it more seriously. You know, written communication, potential of misunderstandings, and all that.
Stratos
You need to add different languages here, as I'm not a native english speaker, and think you aren't either. So we aren't doing that bad
OnAlienware
Just thought I'd drag this up again...In all seriousness, the M1A1SA seems (I know, perhaps deceptively) like an easy ungrade that will go a long way toward bringing Americans into this millenium, and some parity between the M1s and Leos.Any thoughts?
scowlmovement
What's an "ungrade?"

Mogwa
There is greater demand for a playable M1A2 than there is for a playable T-72.Mog
