JohnO
DarkAngle, where is there a good site to get DTED? Also do you use DTED level 0 or level 2 which is almost equivalent to a 1:50,000 scale topo map? The cost of Global Mapper is no problem.
DarkAngel
I can help you with it for sure but like you I am busy for the next while. I have not found a source for native DTED data. That seems to be the province of military. I use other data and then convert to DTED using global mapper which is capable of exporting DTED 0 - 3. Which one I use depends on the data source. SB Pro is capable of importing all of them. For most of the world the only decent free data is SRTM (90m) its not the best data but its easily available and free. There is also ASTER data (30m) but the data is pretty dirty and has a lot of artifacts unless its of a barren waterless area. There is 1 arc second (30m) SRTM data available for continental USA. However now there is also a 1/3 arc second (10m) data available of the USA through USGS. This is some beautiful data and I have been making some heightmaps with it to replace some of the ones in SB. There is also 1 arc second (30m) data available for Canada.Links:-SRTM http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SELECTION/inputCoord.aspAster http://www.ersdac.or.jp/GDEM/E/USGS http://seamless.usgs.gov/website/seamless/viewer.htmCanadian http://www.geobase.ca/geobase/en/index.html

Will stop over tomorrow at CGSC and see James, which Ssnake knows, and take a look at SB Pro. If you can't get to the roads, that's ok, I can still hand jam them in I'm working on the missing towns and working on the units.
Gibsonm
Looks like Global Mapper comes from here: http://www.globalmapper.com/product/download.htm#purchase1 I'm afraid I'm not conversant with 95% of the acronyms used on the site though.

Gator
Wanted to bump this thread in anticipation o f 2.6 being released. I have gotten to be quite an expert lately with Global Mapper while working on maps for Armored Brigade. When I finish my Fulda project with AB I've got some ideas for maps I've always wanted in SB.
