jlh
I'm considering installing an SSD in my Dell desktop. Could someone please tell me what, if any, advantage it would give me in running SBpe.Thanks
Gibsonm
Well depending on what you already have ....But most likely faster load times for scenarios, AARs, etc.So instead of successive screens of “loading“ this, that and the other you’d probably have it fully loaded in a flash.Of course if this is a ‘486 with 128Mb of RAM, disregard everything I wrote.
Administrators Sean Posted January 9, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 9, 2012 Load times are reduced to almost nothing. Be sure to keep good backups, and research the ssd in question. Some have been known to fail in spectacular ways.
Alicatt
I use a 160GB Intel XM-25 SSD in my laptop and have been for almost 18months now. For SB it is almost an instant on and when you open the mission editor it takes between 1 and 2 seconds, same with the scenarios. makes me wish I had one in my desktop too My use for the SSD is not for it's speed though, it is for use in the car for offroad navigation, the speed is just a happy by-product for me.
