ORDERS subject to minor changes..

1) Situation:

a) enemy:

After initial successes in it's surprise attack, Red Forces Guard Division managed to thrust 50 kilometers south in an attempt to take the

area of Rastatt. Red managed to take it's

intermediate objective Autobuhn southwards and a major intersection (12 km to the N), and to exploit

that success up the the small river.

G2 estimates that the enemy currently is deploying the next echelon of his forces. UAV's radar images indicate that forward elements of a

mechanized regiment currently are on a road march through the woods northwest of Rastatt. The estimated time of arrival is t +50 minutes.

However, the enemy might be up for something different, though. German scout units have spotted a group of mine laying vehicles, so the

enemy might plan for a deliberate defense. G2 expects this to be less likely, though.

Enemy Equipment: T-72B Tanks, BMP-2 IFV, BRDM-2AT, MI 24 HIND

b) own:

Combat team Sussex has finished preparations of the counterattack.

Our CMBTM currently is located South of the village of Sandweier. We have reliefed units of the delaying task force 33. After refueling our

vehicles and maintenance works, we are ready to push forward.

2) Mission:

We are pushing north. We are to counterattack remnants of the battered 233rd Red Forces Guard Regiment before the enemy is ready to deploy

his reinforcements. It is essential to reach the outskirts of GRAPE as soon as possible, since the Rheinauen river will help us contain the

enemy in the area of NW of Rastatt. Massive air strikes are to follow to severely attrit the concentration of forces that is to expect once

Rastatt is sealed tight.

Our Combat Team will attack with two Troops in front, point of main effort as per trace..

3) Conduction:

We are to attack on cmd.

Our mission is to cross the minefield at APPLE,bridge Rheinauen river and the secure OBJ "GRAPE".

The attack mission will be divided into four phases (see according phase lines on the map). Prior to this, all thee Troops must prepare for our

attack mission, and assemble in areas on the LOD.

a) Phase MANGO

As soon as we're crossing phase MANGO 1/A ,2/A in line formation at max speed to allow us crossing the open area towards phase line BANANA.

It is essential not to lose any forces in this initial stage of the attack !

Pay attention to our flanks, there may be some missile teams hiding.

b) Phase BANANA

Here we may meet the enemy's main line of resistance. According to Red defense doctrine we have to expect some anti tank reserve that might be deployed once we break it.

Our main concern must be to take objective, bypass and small arms to India c/s.

c) Phase APPLE

This is the most crucial phase. We need to clear alanes through the MF and then BRIDGE the river.

The enemy may try to attack our right flank in this phase, so be prepared for the anti-tank reserve then.

d) Taking the objective

Once we have taken the APPLE objectives, the rest should be fairly easy - provided we manage to act quick enough to seal "GRAPE"

. The objective must be taken at t +50 minutes !

4) Support and detachments:

a) Artillery:

Since we are not the battalion's point of main effort, we don't get priority artillery support. However, a preparatory barrage is granted, as well as

sufficient HE,SMK support.

b) Logistics:

All vehicles are fully operational.

c) Attachments / detachments:

Attached : 2X LAVIII Ptl

2x Bridgelayer

1 Engineer Plt

1 Forward Observer

1 TP Leopard1 with Mineplows

1 MICLIC mine clearing vehicle

1 ARV

TASKS:

AS per trace.

Think I know why it ended early.

It set to run for 90mins + 10% OR if Blue event 1 is true.

That event is more than 3 operational enemy AFV in "region 10".

There is a "bunch" (don't want to give the exact size away) of units that appear to move towards "region 10" (part of GRAPE).

Maybe there is something "wrong" with their logic (launch too early, ?) or maybe the event should be set to a number greater than 3?

OK I've removed that event from the "end if ..." screen.

So now it should run for 90Mins + 10% or if I use Trigger1 (which I'm assuming 12Alfa, nor anyone else, didn't activate in the 1CAD session).

Have changed:

The Leos to M1A1(HA).

Both ARV are now Wisents.

Both ARV now have ploughs.

[update:] With that logical condition removed the scenario ran for about 95 mins.
