Tank tactics and formations?

You need to read the stuff in the PDF library - specifically the army field manuals uploaded by Gary Owen. Armed with this information, you can then sit down and sort out what looks like it might work in Steel Beasts and what might not. Then you can experiment and try to apply what you learned to SB. Its also helpful to observe what other people are doing in the AAR and learn from that.

What tactics get used depends on the mission, the type of terrain, force dispositions, and known predispositions of your opponent.

Given Billy's previous dismissals of the study of boring doctrine, I doubt that that is what he's inquiring about.

However, M1 Tank Platoon 2 had a good video presentation of the different platoon formations and battle drills. I'd suggest looking at that if a copy is available.

I found a copy of it on youtube awhile back, but I think that it was removed because of copyright infringement. Otherwise, I'd offer a link to the *.mpg version of it here.

Regarding formations, as Sean said its really depends on what tactics get used depending on the mission, the type of terrain, force dispositions, and known predispositions of your opponent.

However if you want the US tank army field manual. (Credits once again duefully given to Mr Owen)
