  2. Finn Mission Pack

FINN MISSIONPACK V.1.0 This missionpack includes following single-player missions (version): -Bad Santa (1.0) -Elvis ringing doorbell (1.2) -Hasty attack (summer) (1.5) -Hasty attack (autumn) (1.5) -Head on attack (summer) (1.5) -Head on attack (winter) (1.5) All missions are updated after the release of the first patch. This missionpack also includes 6 theme files, that are used in the missions. The undergrowth size has been reduced a little to allow player to see enemies at the same time they are able to see him. This may not be true with infantry - it's intentional! The difficulty level may be quite high, so few tips: -try to fight where you are strong -> enemy doesn't have TI in all vehicles -> infantry is DEADLY in woods, use your own infantry to fight enemy infantry before you rush to the bushes with your Leopards! -> Find hull-down positions whenever possible -> don't stay in one place for too long after being spotted because you're most likely going to be hit with arty -> try to engage smaller enemies with full force rather than attacking everybody with only a small force -if you have artillery, use it! It'll save you from many tough situations! Also remember the power of smoke! -your ready rack is never half full - it's always half empty! -The missions have time limits, but the limits won't be too hard -> take it easy, if you don't know where the enemy is, don't go full steam ahead and hope you'll see them first -remember that your BMP's don't have missiles, if they're not described as ATGM-units! I hope you enjoy playing these missions as much as I enjoyed creating them! Please send feedback and comments etc. about these missions to the Steel Beasts forums, or directly to my e-mail. Best used with Finnish skins for blue side! (I recommend the ones made by Congo and myself - they'll match the theme files perfectly!) Also create a folder called "red" in the mods/"theme"-folders and copy the skins that you wish to be used by the red side there. That way you will not have Finn skins for both sides! 13th May 2006 Zipuli (ivarha@hotmail.com)

  3. Thunder Run

On April 5, 2003 the "Desert Rogues" Battalion of the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, US Army, was tasked with a recon in force up Highway 8, in the area just southwest of Baghdad. The action that ensued has come to be known as the "Thunder Run", and was one of the key battles of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This scenario depicts the battle and is dedicated to the brave soldiers of Rogue Battalion who fought that day.

  4. Lt Perkins, I Presume

A Canadian Recce Troop doing a route recce to secure a bridge. This scenario is designed to be played from the crew commander's view as much as possible, especially when adopting positions of observation and when directing artillery. Minimal use is to be made of the map, and calling artillery off the map (especially full Fire For Effect) is definately Bad Form. The name of the game here is Sneak and Peek. Done correctly, it is possible to neutralize all the enemy positions and capture the bridge at NAI 0001 without losing a single vehicle or firing a single direct-fire shot. While the entire troop is provided for completeness (and for multi-player co-operative play) this is one of the few scenarios where it is acceptable to "lone wolf" - divide one of the 2-car patrols into 2 separate vehicles, hop into the crew commander's hole, and get moving! (This simulates being in the lead callsign of a troop moving by catapiller movement, more or less) It is more important to skillfully manouvre individual vehicles rather than try and micromanage the entire troop. CHANGELOG --------- V1.0 Initial Release TODO ---- Scoring is a little odd yet and needs additional tweaking. Red's orders are a little thin. DG

  5. Baghdad Raid - Thunder run - updated version

Changes: Difficulty adjusted so that the scenario can be more authentic, enjoyable and playable in single player mode. The player is now able the select Difficulty during the mission. (Normal or Hard mode) see the briefing for details. This scenario depicts the "Thunder run" of 5th April 2003 in Baghdad along Highway 8. Just put the *.sce file to "My scenarios" folder & enjoy. I've also made an ambient file for the scenario - Its up to you wheter you want to use it or not (look for it in the mods section). It took me quite a few months to make this mission&terrian, but I hope it was worth it. I've also attached the terrain file hat I made for this mission (its not necessary to use it because its already embeded in the *.sce file) in case somedy else wants to work with it/expand it later. Have fun, cheers: Daskal

This CPX or COMMAND POST EXERCISE is for the armchair-generals among us: * As CO/A you will command all of your units with the use of triggers. * Your units are mostly computercontrolled. They may become playercontrolled though, if you want to get a taste of the action. YOU CAN PLAY THIS SCENARIO ALSO FROM THE RED SIDE IN SINGLE PLAYER.

  13. The Battle for Fulda South

Greetings fellow trackheads. Well after a lot of here and there work over 2 months I've finally finished a decent first version of my best Fulda defense mission yet. Thanks to Warulf for his incredible map of Fulda. Mission would be a flop without it. You've got a little bit of everything in this mission but the freedom to move your forces as you see fit. The AI for minebreaching is not wonderful. Maybe one day it will be smarter. Should Soviet units not breach correctly I have removed password lock-out from the Soviet side for you to be able to tinker with them. REMEMBER THAT THIS WILL SPOIL MY SURPRISES SO I ONLY ADVISE THAT YOU DO THIS AS A LAST RESORT. I'm sure there are still bugs so bear with me. T Changes made: More baddies and more of a challenge. Less hang-ups in the minefields. Better scripting for smarter AI. The Soviets are more aggressive. M-88s available for recovery. This Scenario is meant for hefty machines only as frame rates on less powerful systems may make it unplayable.

  14. Fulda Gap Southern Corridor: AutobahnWars Part 2

This is a big and complicated scenario. But the Enemy AI is scripted for extreme randomness and to automatically use adaptation to enemy activities. The 57th Guards Motorized Rifle Division (Cat A) has finally taken Neuhof (Autobahn Wars Part 1) and is preparing the outbreak into the Fliede Valley whit the 51st Guards Tank Regiment to gain access to the Autobahn A66 on route to Frankfurt/main. This Scenario can either be played by letting the enemy AI automatically choose from 6 different DP(Decision Points) whit 12 different possibly events depending on NATO activities and RED casualties in different sectors including a automatic response if encountering FASCAM. For BLUE: You are defending the Town of “Flieden” whit elements from 1th CavDiv and 11th ACR in hasty prepared defensive positions. The primary objective is to deny the OPFOR access to the road B40/ A66 and the Fleide valley on route to Frankfurt/main. The Blue commander must take advantage of the OPFOR Decision Points, applying enough combat power to paralyze the attacker’s Command and Control. Once this occurs, the Blue player will have entered the decision cycle and may take offensive actions. In theory! Now you can test this “mantra” for yourself. For RED: This scenario represents the OPFOR player with the potential command and control problems associated with conducting a simultaneous attack with two Battalions in the first echelon and one reinforced tank Battalion as the Second echelon on a prepared enemy BP. The OPFOR will make the following random automatic DP (Decision Point) choices: DP 1: At 3km in front of Blue BP (Battle Position) to continue the advance DP 2: At 2km in front of Blue BP (Battle Position) to - Fix & Bypass OR - Assault the Blue BP Although the OPFOR player will have the possibility to manually override by issuing control switches to change the OPFOR behaviour Prerequisites: - You will have to use V3 of the Fulda_Gap Sothern Corridor Map - SBPro PE V2.370 BETA. - I strongly recommend using the “Lastmichdurch´s Enhancement Texture” and - The “Fulda Gap Textures” -Reference material 1. 18. North German Plain 85 - Hameln 1 (2.640)

Version 1.1: updated to new version of Manteuffel's map for 2.640 + scripted Blue side a bit more, so that scenario is playable from the Red side in SP + changed some T-72B to T-72M1 ... JC (from the very interesting Real & Simulated Wars-blog) had the idea to replicate a phase from the grand-tactical/operational war game North German Plain 85 in SB.

I helped him a bit with creating the Red side of the battle.
Up to you now to command the Blue side ...

  19. M1A1 Platoon Attack on Reinforced Motorised Rifle Company v2.4 (4.023)

You command a troop (Tp) of M1A1 AIM SA.  Your Tp is advancing as part of a combat team (CT) effort to clear the valley to your south as a precursor to further offensive operations by the battle group.  The CT's main effort is taking place to your east and to protect the flank of the main effort it is critical you secure the road junction and town at OBJ.  All available artillery and air support has been committed to support the CT's main effort to your east so you must secure the OBJ on your own.  A platoon of NZLAV-IMV from a coalition partner is attached to assist clear and secure the OBJ.

This scenario has been specifically designed to practice careful planning, appreciation of terrain and tactical movement by sections within the troop (platoon) using overwatch techniques.  It is purposely balanced in favour of RED to be unforgiving of tactical errors and to drive these lessons home.  It is challenging but can be completed with the forces at your disposal.

Lieutenant, the plan to complete the mission is up to you.

  20. Area Reconnaissance at Neustadt am Rübenberge 1989 v2.2 (4.023)

You command a company-sized kampfgruppe of 4 (Mixed) Company, Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion 1.  This comprises a platoon of six Leopard 1A5, a section of four Lynx 2A2 and a platoon of three Fox 1A4A4 from 5 Company attached.

The Soviet 3rd Combined Arms Army is attempting to encircle HANOVER and lead elements of 7th Guards Tank Division captured NEUSTADT AM RÜBENBERGE late yesterday.  Helicopter reconnaissance confirms a BTR-equipped motorised rifle company has occupied the town and established a hasty defence.  After a pause overnight the Soviet advance and encirclement of HANOVER is expected to continue at first light.

Commander of 1 Panzer Division’s (1 PzDiv) intent is to confirm strength of enemy (ENY) defence in NEUSTADT AM RÜBENBERGE in preparation for counterattack.  Additionally, determine direction of advance of ENY forward security element so 1 PzDiv can move to block main body along axis of advance.  Insert a patrol using infiltration route BEOWULF to observe and report on activity behind ENY lines.  Avoid decisive engagement and maintain combat effectiveness for follow-on tasking by 1 PzDiv.  You have a troop of three M109G 155 mm self-propelled howitzers firing HE and SMOKE in support.

Hauptmann, the plan to complete the mission is up to you.

  21. The Gauntlet (3.002)

Fictional mission taking place around 2004 between east and west.

A salient along our southern flank exists among swampy lowlands and heavily bombed and mined roads.
Whoever controls this salient and takes the town might tip the fight to their side. Drive the enemy force off this miserable
strip of land and maybe we'll all go home a little sooner!

Threats include modern Russian armor, dug in infantry, helo/arty support and a few surprises.
You may call on Apache support if needed but I advise only in an emergency.

Your forces include 2 platoons of the latest version of the Abrams, the M1A2 SEP. You also have been granted 2
platoons of mech infantry, a mortar platoon and a section of M109A3s stand ready with firesupport.
    KEEP THEM ALIVE!.

10th Mountain UH-60Ls are waiting to be called in to relieve you of babysitting the town but only if you can take it in the first place. You also have mine-clearing equipment but use it where you need it - once it's gone, it's gone.

Oh... there are a few surprises.

You move at 7AM. Good luck Captain. You'll need it.
