The Battle of Asal Uttar: Indo-Pakistani War of 1965

SITUATION:
Pakistan's invading force, consisting of the 1st Armoured Division and 11th Infantry Division,
crossed the International Border and captured the Indian town of Khem Karan
and intend to advance to Asal Uttar.
MISSION:
Considering the situation, GOC Indian 4th Mountain Division (Maj. Gen. Gurbaksh Singh)
has ordered the division to fall back and assume a horseshoe shaped defensive position
with Asal Uttar as its focal point.
EXECUTION:
The 2nd Armored Brigade comprised of 3rd Cavalry, 8th Lancers and 9 Gorkha Rifles are to move up and occupy battle positions
on the ridges to the west of Asal Uttar, Bhura Kohoa, and Rattoke and destroy the attacking Pakistani units.
FORCE COMPOSITION:
3rd Cavalry: 3 x Sho't Kal Platoons
8th Lancers: 4 x AMX13 Platoons
9 Gorkha Rifles 3 x Mech Platoons
3 Artillery Batteries of 6 tubes each will be available.
4th Mountain Division units are computer controlled.
CSS of Repair, Medical, and Supply.
Enemy forces are comprised of M60 and AMX13 tanks and infantry with anti-tank weapons. Artillery is expected.
Points scored for holding Asal Uttar, Bhura Kohoa, and Rattoke.
