  1. http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=11990 if you delete the options.dat file, SB Pro will then start with the default options in effect. if you are using windows XP the options.dat file is located in: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\options the post by "unga" in the thead i linked to above gives the location of the options.dat file if you are using Vista for your OS.
  2. i don't have Vista but i can find the location in XP by searching my hard drive for a folder named mods. mods is in lower case letters. you could try that to see if Vista will show the location of the folder?
  3. if you look in a folder like: C:\Program Files\eSim Games\SB Pro PE Beta\loc\English (US)\Scenarios\Single the briefings are in a .txt file.
  4. you can also edit the options in the User Control Panel to reflect your choice for the time period for which threads are shown.

what version of the Codemeter software do you have installed? the newest versions are found on the following page. choose either the 32 bit or 64 bit version depending on the version of Vista that you are using. http://codemeter.com/us/service/downloads.html
  6. would this help? http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/259/p13_fileid/1485
  7. the Professional version that is used by military customers has more external view options that are not available in the Pro PE version. sometimes the videos you see are being made by someone that has this version.
  8. you could try using a download manager. i use this one when i have a large download. http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm
  9. Martyr - i can mail you a cd if you need it. i live in Ohio. just p.m. your mailing address to me.
  10. you might not even want to install the version of SB that is on the cd. you can download the 2.370 "beta" version from esimgames and install it. you will need the codemeter dongle to be able to play. this is what i have installed. the only reason i can see for using the version on the cd, which should be 2.328, is if you are trying to play multiplayer and that is the version the server is running. 2.328 and 2.370 will install to different folders, so you can have both of them installed at the same time. 2.370 is available on this page: http://www.esimgames.com/Downloads.htm#Steel%20Beasts%20Pro%20PE%202.370%20Beta the latest codemeter software can be downloaded here: http://codemeter.com/us/service/downloads.html it won't hurt to check to see if a new firmware is available for the dongle. you can do this easily from the Codemeter Control Center Panel where there is an option to check for an update. also on the Codemeter Control Center Panel, at the top under "Help", you can register the dongle. it is a good idea to do this. once registered, if the dongle is lost or stolen, you can use your account to lock that particular dongle. then you will be able to obtain a replacement from esimgames for a fee and you won't have to buy a new copy of SB Pro PE and pay the full price.
  11. i have been reading up on memory because i am thinking about building a new computer. i currently use windows XP with 2 Gbs of memory and i believe that is just the right amount for my current computer. a 64-bit OS can use more memory but unless the software or game are coded for it they don't benefit from the OS or the fact that it has more memory. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2163&page=1 http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2477673&Board=8&fpart=all&gonew=1#UNREAD http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105 of course it is your decision. i am just saying that i don't think you need more memory because it won't increase your computer's performance. what videocard are you using? that might be a better investment for increased performance, depending on what card you have now.
  12. what OS do you use? if it is a 32-bit OS you are limited to about 3-3.5 gigabytes of memory. you have 2 gigabytes of memory and that is enough for a 32-bit OS.

  14. i am not sure about whether the following quote from the SB Pro PE manual also applies to SB Gold but, i would say that it probably is the same.
  15. from page 4 of the SB Pro Manual: note that you have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the Folder Options/view menu before you will be able to see that folder.
  16. i found this site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Beasts
