  1. I have always used CH Products Joystick and Throttle and their Control Manager software to Play SteelBeasts. Suddenly a software conflict has arisen (prolly with Windows 10) that has necessitated the removal of the CH Control Manager program. The two controllers are still USBed into my system. In my various other flight sims I have been able to assign buttons and axes from both controllers directly in the game, but not SteelBeasts. It seems SB will only take commands from one controller. Is there something I am missing here? I have always the driving controls on the throttle and turret, POV, and gunnery functions on the joystick. Is there a method to get SB to recognize two controllers?

    The 4.0 Garage

It would be helpful to find a way to identify the type vehicle you are selecting. Otherwise it seems to be a complete menu.
  3. Gibsonm, Thanks for the response. I have not had time to try to set up the configuration yet; but will try in the next day or two. I have a wired connection from my PC to the AirPort if that makes a difference. I guess I'll have to use my wife's Mac to configure the Airport utility. I will try to make it look like one of your screenshots, but I really have no idea what all the letters and numbers mean (you've got a real computer simpleton on the line here....). Anyway, I'll try it and let you now. Thanks again, Jhay
  4. New Router,.... Just got an Apple Airport Extreme router for the home network. The port forwarding utility link given in the first post states flatly that this router will not allow enough ports open to run SteelBeasts! Is this truly the case? My whole family is very happy with it, but I am in shock, TGIF Tank Night is the whole reason I slog through the week. The 3.017 beta version that just expired seemed to do away with client port forwarding,... Will that return soon and if it does, would that allow this router to connect to multiplayer servers? Has anyone else faced this issue with this product? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    XP Replacement?

The end of XP has finally arrived, and I understand that unless I replace it, I will be exposed to untold hacker horrors. SteelBeasts is the primary reason I even own a computer, so the compatibility of the replacement with SB is of the utmost importance. I guess my options are Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1. Which of these would give the smoothest transition from XP and the easiest for a computer simpleton to manage? Thanks.
  7. Gentlemen, Stand by,....Success!!!!!!!!!!! I had missed running the DirectX installer! (I told you I was stupid). It works!!! Thanks all!!!
  8. Gibsonm, Thanks, yes, I am aware of that. While we await the temporary license we have my CodeMeter stick to use. But following PvtKramer's very specific instructions on downloading the DirectX 9 files to the new 'My Documents' file still results in the "File not found" error. 1. Downloaded, unpacked, & installed game. 2. Located Start icon. 3. Plugged in working CodeMeter stick. 4. Error message "file not found:d3dx9_31.dll" 5. Followed PvtKramer's first DirectX 9 download instructions above,... same error message. 6. Followed Pvt Kramer's second procedure above,...same result... I'm at a loss. I'm hoping to infect another guy with the SB virus, but not having any luck. Thanks all for your attention.
  9. I have retried downloading and running the DirectX 9 file mentioned above, with the same error message, "Missing file d3dx9_31.dll". And is there any hope of getting the temporary license sent to the proper email address soon? How would I resubmit it?
  10. I have just downloaded and run the DirectX 9 file again with the same error result. "Missing file d3dx9_31.dll".
  11. Ssnake, Yes, I am quite confused, and a bit stupid. We have gotten the new program downloaded from esims Games, and even found the .exe icon in the start menu. I made an error in entering the e-mail address on the order form for the license, I omitted one letter. Is there a way to rectify that? I am installing this on a relative's computer in an attempt to get him hooked on the game. In the meantime, we have my personal CodeMeter plugged in, and when we click the start icon, we get the missing file error message listed in the previous post. I have downloaded the DirectX 9 file, with both 'run' and 'save', but still get the error. Windows 7 is his operating system, and he does have a program that scans incoming data (Yogi).
  12. Pvt Kramer, Thank you for your attention. I got the DirectX 9 link and ran it as instructed,...but now the .exe/cm file has disappeared from the Release folder. I am giving up and purchasing a temporary license and re-downloading the whole game from the e-sims website. I just hope I have not corrupted my codemeter stick with all the thrashing around I have done trying to get this to work. My CodeMeter has been up-to-date and I have been running the game (3.002) on my old machine with all settings at minimum. I have been trying to put it on a newer, much more powerful machine to see what the new features look like,
  13. Found the CM file in Release, but get error message saying "file d3dx9_31.dll not found"
  14. Sir, I have accomplished the unpacking process, found the setup, bin 1 & bin 2 files. I have run the setup file to install the program. I go to the C drive to view and start the game, but all that is there are these files: actors, docs, image, loc, misc, models, music, release, shaders, sounds, terrain, textures, unins000.dat, unins000, & unins000. As the installer runs, the dialogue box says it is installing everything, but this all that I find in the destination folder. I even get the CodeMeter update/repair wizard. I cannot find an .exe to start and run game.
  15. Gentlemen, I am attempting to install my version 3.01 onto a new computer, without success. I copied the folder containing the four-part download onto a thumbdrive, plugged the drive into the new computer, opened it and run the extraction process contained in Part 1. The dialogue box shows all four parts extracting and installing. I have seen and run the CodeMeter prompt. Once everything has done, I cannot find an .exe or any file to actually start the game, with or without the CodeMeter plugged in. I have tried installing the unmodded program from my 2009 disk, also without seeing any Start mechanism, CodeMeter in or out. Download was originally accomplished using XP, now attempting to install on Windows 7. Thank you for your assistance. Jhay
  16. If I can see them, they can see me.... I'm going to get my calculator out and punch this formula in while quaking with fear???

    Spiders!

If you go around stepping on every spider you see, you will be reincarnated as one. 'Same goes for fishermen and fish, hunters and deer, etc...
  19. Several years ago I downloaded a joystick profile written by Skybird for the CH Products FighterStick & Throttle. I have modified it almost beyond recognition and would like to start over. Does anyone know if that is still available for download and where it can be found? Or any other maps for this HOTAS setup? Thanks Jhay

    Proselytize

Sirs, I am about to drive across the country to see some old war-gamer friends. I would like to demonstrate SB to them. Hopefully they would become customers. If I took the SB disc and the codemeter, could we install it on one of their computers so they could see the game in action, without any disruption on their 'puters and mine? Would there be any scenarios available? Could they easily uninstall the programs when I take my Codemeter and disc home? The Codemeter seems like a quite finicky piece of hard/software, I would not want to cause them problems during and after my sales pitch. Is this even a good idea? Thanks, Jhay
  21. Has anyone tried using a 'voice actuated command" system with SB, such as "Voice Buddy"? (just speaking a command instead of using keyboard or joystick to produce an action.) If so, was it practical and/or useful? Any problems or hurdles to overcome? I have an old Voice Buddy disk, but am hesitant to experiment, SB works so well that I am afraid of screwing something up. Thanks, Jhay

    Dynamic Lead

OK FINALLY! After a complete reinstall, the issue was still there. Another review of the SB control menu found the "P" key selecting not only dynamic lead, but also 'Stab Bereit' (whatever that is). I changed the key for 'Stab Bereit' to the unused "K" key, and the problem has been solved!!!!! (I hope). Thanks to all who pondered this and offered suggestions.

    Dynamic Lead

Thanks for the replies. Nothing has worked so far, so I guess I'll have to reinstall. If I do that will I lose all of me downloaded scenarios? I ate doing this, especially on Friday, "Tank Night" as it is known here. My family is trained to stay away.

    Dynamic Lead

I have now spent several hours, unmapping and remapping keys, trying different keys, and even cycling through with no key mapped. I got 'dynamic lead' for the first three shots in the tutorial once, then all remaining shots fell way behind. The Leo2A4 lead works consistently. Leo2A5 and Strv122 are two that don't. Should I try to reload the whole game? I am somewhat fearful of that, I generally screw something up when I try things like that. If I have to reload whole game, do I uninstall it all first, then reinstall the disc, then the patches? Lots of room for error there, but I will try it if that is a solution....
