  1. I probably should have added Acknowledgements to the SSI company which created People’s General. (Strategic Simulations, Inc.) Some History below provided by: Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_Simulations,_Inc. The company was founded by Joel Billings, a wargame enthusiast. He hired programmers John Lyons, who wrote Computer Bismarck, and Ed Williger, who wrote Computer Ambush. Both games were written in BASIC as were many of SSI's early games. Computer Bismarck was released for the Apple II in January 1980 and for the TRS-80 later in the year. Chuck Kroegel, the co-author with David Landry of many of the early SSI wargames, joined the company as an employee in 1983 and led product development for over ten years. SSI was acquired by Mindscape in 1994, spent time as part of Mattel, and finally became part of Ubisoft (in March 2001), which has since retired the brand name.
  2. Thought I would Share this free abandonware with you Gents. Peoples general is a WW3 Top Down IGOUGO. The .exe is included within the .rar file so no DOSBOX needed. Plays just like Panzer General but with modern equipment. There are also updates on the net for it also. Thought this might work well for a campaign operation for SB, as there is a mission editor. Steel Beast being used for the tactical outcomes of the PG battles. Just a thought. Find here: http://panzercentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41608&sid=833133ba956c12fa926bd1b3b933a0fa Click map pic to download. Should be about 76 megs for full game. Enjoy. ChanceBS

  5. SB forum has taught me that a man is not obligated to tell his every thought. Thankyou to those who know who you are.
  6. Why would Sherman need to be stimulated in Italy when he has Eve in Space.
  7. Geez Daskal I think your being a little hard on em. (Hope you see the humor there Ash...ok)
  8. I agree with you Ash. Your Post just sounded a little harsh when I read it. Just my Humble Opinion.
  9. I think your being a little hard on em Ash. This is his first try at an SB public upload. That takes alot of courage in itself. How many have you uploaded Ash? I'll look at the scen. today. I am sure it may need some polish, but I have never seen a Scen. yet, including my own, which did not need some polish.
  10. Yup. NorthernPA map. I added the buildings and adjusted roads through the pass.
  11. This Brad was still operational once the M88 dragged it out. The Guy wasnt.
  12. Yup. Without question. Period. GL Good Hunting.
  13. This is a COOP mission that has been play tested this week. The Generals will be hosting this mission on Oct.28, 2009 @ 1500 hours EST. All are welcome. Be fore warned that the mission will take a min. of 2 hours to complete. During testing we did complete it in 3 hours and 20 minutes. You will feel like you have been through a battle after playing OPERATION GRAFTON NOTCH. Below are some intel pics of area. MAP. BRIEF. THE NOTCH. TOWN OF NEW GLOUSTER.
  14. I agree with ya Tacbat. But if the signal sucks, it sucks. I have got this random variable to work in a mission SBG will be playing on Weds 1500 EST. Anyone is welcome if you would like to try this enviroment. It is Quite interesting for some users that are extremly map dependent. Actually saw a section set up on a reverse slope when the map was down. I asked him if he was all set as I passed by going to my BP. He said, "Yup, lookin Down Range at a good BP." He was facing 180 degrees away from the enemy front line. I kept going. He eventually figured it out. Hoping no one saw I thinks.
  15. When no updates or no radios options are selected fo a mission they should have the desired and obvious effects to the user. But not exactly. Becuase the player can still find his location on the map by setting battle position key "e". (This is a software work around user will and do use.) What this does is place a BP marker on the map even though there are no map updates and/or radios. So to limit the user from any navigation aids, except a printed map, I have to completely remove access to said electronic map. However, the mission logic does turn the map on and off throughout the mission for users to use normally when it is "up". Therefore this is how I have attempted to simulate poor connections to map update techs. Whether it be Electronic Warfare, Satalite interferance anomolies, or just unexplained poor service areas. What I dont know is; How realistic are the possible connection issues with Map update tech.
  16. I have been working on a couple of missions where the Satalite Comms are poor. Kinda like bad cell phone service in some areas. What happens during the mission is that your map turns off and on at random times, for a random amount of time. This will occur throught the mission. My question to those who have used this type of equipment: Is this a realistic problem that can arise in the Modern battlefield?
  17. Thanks. It was the download. When I would save it I would get the error. I was able to install by running it in temp internet file. Thanks for the update ESIM.
  18. Hello Gents, Home for a bit... Having trouble loading the 2.483 patch. Says the .exe is not a Win32 application. Any ideas would of grat help. PS had a great time at sea. Got to sink a refrig with a .50 barret at 500 yards.
  19. I would be up for some old Avalon Hill over the internet if it is possible. Sign Me up. I will look into how it is done also...
  20. Back in town for 40 hours. After 28 days at sea. We pulled into Boston to avoid some weather breezing through. Also need to stock up on parts and food. I have flown the ROV down to the wreck and found it on the first try. Little stressful with 500K of equipment in my hands but very cool. The Discovery Film team have over 150 hours of footage now. They have told us that the film will not be a 1 hour gig, but a series like Deadliest Catch. Update everyone when I can. Public Info Now: Wreck is Port Nicholson and Cherokee. Two vessels. Sunk by U87. Enjoy your searches for those interested. ChanceBS
  21. After a 6 week refit, we are finally shipping out weekend. Everything is ready to go and I am on a two days of shore leave. Wasted the first one already, wasted. lol. Much needed. Even the Discovery Channel guys kept pace with us. Which was a surprise since they are from London. I told them on July 4 that we americans reenact the Boston Tea Party and you Brits are gonna be the Tea. You guys from England just dont get our American humor. lol I'll keep ya posted. Bon Voyage. Chance
  22. No worries. We have hired a team from Black Water.
  23. Thanks Gents, This is what a can tell you, The Vessel was loaded with a cargo from Russia. It was a payment from Russia to pay for Arms the US was sending them during WW2. The commodity used was a full ship load of Platinum. Est. Value of 4 - 5 Billion on today's Market. I cannot elaborate much further than this due to a Confidenttiality agreement, but there is alot of public info on the net. Some true and some meant to be misleading for obvious reasons. Oh... Niles if you send me a ESIM Ball cap I'll wear it for ya. In trade for a fully updated M1. LOL.
  24. M/V Sea Hunter Here is my new home for the next 50+ days. The Sea Hunter. I will be taking part in a salvage operation of a ship that sank in 1942. It is being considered the most valuable salvage operation of this kind in history. I got lucky and was picked from 1100 applicants. Big ego boost there. lol. Discovery Channel already has a film crew on board and is filming the whole adventure. Have to admit it is a little wierd while trying to do your work with a camera in your face. We leave in about 10 days, so say a prayer and wish us luck.
