  1. I've asked about this before: Is there any plan to add a save game feature? I know I'm not the target audience for SB, and likewise I haven't purchased any updates. I can understand why professional soldiers shouldn't have this feature, but I have a personal edition, and I think it should be included.
  2. I can't post or respond to most messages! edit,,,forum is fucked up. . . .I have to sign in all the time . . .
  3. That Euro Truck sim looks interesting. I've actually driven a serious truck simulator, with the shifter, steering wheel, all the switches/gauges, etc. It is used mainly to simulate adverse conditions like ice, jack-knife events, blown steer tires, and so on. It was boring as hell and gave me motion sickness, which I never get in a real vehicle. I don't know about those funny-looking European single drive axle cabovers with automatic transmissions. They just can't make those things look cool no matter how hard they try . . .
  4. The seller links a video of the tank here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10ATk2GBSGU The driver almost gets it stuck, and this brings up an interesting point: if anyone buys the tank and gets it stuck, he will have quite a challenge getting it unstuck! Anyone remember this lunatic?
  5. Glovepie, if you have time to learn how to use it, is in my opinion, vastly superior to Shoot! http://glovepie.org/glovepie.php It is too bad that the user agreement forbids using Glovepie for military simulators, as well as for anyone that live is Israel. Also, you must commit to using 100% green energy. from the Readme: "* You may not use this software directly or indirectly for any military purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, training, research and development, controlling military hardware, directing military personnel, or troop entertainment. You may not use this software anywhere on a military base or vessel. This applies to all versions of PIE. You may also not use it for playing “games” produced by the military to recruit players as real soldiers, including America’s Army. Sorry. * You may not export this software to Israel, or use it in Israel (including the occupied territories), until Israel has ended its occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, and anywhere else it may occupy, or until Israel abolishes apartheid (granting all Jews and non-Jews in its territories equal rights). If you try to run it in Israel before then, it will give you an error. "
  6. I'm assuming the answer is no. By the way, following earlier advice that I hibernate my laptop works to a point; however, resuming the laptop causes a general system freak-out when the USB stick is missing.
  7. Is there a save game option for single player in the update?
  8. My old laptop died, so I got a new laptop and and put SB on it, and that shortcut works great for the maps folder on my C: drive, but how do I access the hidden maps folder on my old harddrive so that I can transfer my maps onto my new laptop? In other words, how do I unhide a hidden maps folder? ------edit, nevermind, I figured it out, extremely simple solution
  9. Because of this review, I tried the demo and bought the game. The UI sucks some serious ass, but well-worth the time spent learning it. I'm still getting my grip on it . . . Recently, I played a game where I set a Russian recon platoon into a nightime ambush. They set there for almost an hour, and along came a German halftrack and Marder. I zoomed the camera down to eye-level and let them get really close before giving an "open fire" order. I just sat there, slack-jawed, watching perhaps the most intensly violent minute of PC gaming I've ever seen! I want to thank RougeSnake79 for his review.
  10. Just noticed Version .670 is out. There's alot more USSR stuff now (among other things): - USSR: PT-76B, T-54B, T-55A, T-62, T-64B, ZSU-57-2, BMP-1, BMD-1, BMD-2, BTR-70, MT-LB, Airborne Inf Squad, AT-3c ATGM Team, Su-17, MiG-21bis, MiG-27M
  11. Version 6.5 was just realeased on the AB forum
  12. Autohotkey. One of the best utilities ever made. If you have a 5-button mouse, Autohotkey allows you to assign hotkeys to the 2 extra buttons that most programs don't use! Also, you can program the the xtra buttons as *Shift* keys when used w/a combination of another mouse button, thereby doubling (or even tripling) the normal mouse functions of left/right click, middle click, and wheel up/down. For a simple example, if you hold down the mouse's "page back" key while left-clicking, you can fire the main gun: XButton1 & LButton:: Send {Space} Return Or . . . just use your imagination! I love this little program.
  13. Thanks for the timely reply, and I hope we will get this feature!
  14. I don't know how power-conserving hibernation is, but the laptop must be unpluged--sometimes for several hours. And SB isn't the only program I would use. Perhaps on my next break I might need to pull up something else. Who knows? Even w/ALT-TAB I don't want it running in the background. It has become such an issue for me that I won't use any program (or game) that will not allow for saving progress. Yeah, saving is unrealistic. So what? If you want to be more realistic, don't use the save feature. Right now it is like playing an arcade game that whenever I'm doing well I have to worry about losing everything. Its maddening. I heard there was a new update, and my hopes were raised, but if a save feature is never going to happen, just be straight w/me about it.
  15. I've quit playing this game over a year ago, sadly. I just couldn't take it anymore. You see, I've got a pretty cool job, and it is totally acceptable for me to play games in the middle of the day. The problem is, I don't know how long my down time will be. Sometimes it it 15 mins or less, sometimes up to an hour or more. I never really know for sure. And when I've got to go, everything must stop and the laptop gets shut and secured. This game is awesome, but I just couldn't take the frustration anymore. It got to the point where I didn't even want to start playing for fear I'd have to shut down when I really was into playing. I've heard the arguments for and against saving games. I just want to know: Will there ever be a save game option, or will I have to find another job?
