  1. I am by no means militarily are tactically literate and sometimes creating scenarios that the SB community mite enjoy leaves me with a great deal of anxiety. As a result I don’t and instead I make up one for my Saturday night lan sessions with a few friends. My feedback from those individuals comes in the form of curses. “Poor map selection”, “Why are we probing”, “Why are we using reconnaissance”, “We don’t need to spend so much time examining the terrain during the planning phase”. Using this simulation really isn’t that complex or complicated from my point of view but understanding how everything works together and why certainly is. New players that are not part of militaries or ex-military aren’t used to the mechanics of what is faithfully reproduced with this sim. As a result these persons may expect to be able to just jump right into a given vehicle of choice and start blowing shit up. Forget about needing to reload the ready rack or replacing ammo belts. Lazing, battle positions, the GAS. Today’s gaming environment is all about graphics, eye candy. Look at video cards and cpu’s, the power being brought to personal computers for gaming is monstrous. Although it may be very hard to create the logarithms necessary to build a quick battle generator, it shouldn’t be overlooked. Maybe a ProPe lite with stripped down or simplified units that can perform some of the planing. This next phrase is tough to consider but one of these days VR will be just a given on all things gaming. I guess it really depends on what eSim wants from the general public. I love what is provided for me and I’m grateful for what I have from this simulator. I was looking for this very thing in 2007 and found it by accident. You have to want this, you have to want this level of fidelity if you pay for the full package.

    Monolithic Wall

Ok, In the first set of screen captures in my OP, those captures were taken during during test, so the terrain at 90 degrees from the map was visible from within the selected area, the third screen shot confirms. The second set of screen captures I'm providing are not in test and are taken when free roaming on the chosen area, in this case outside of the play area. These walls only appear east and west of the map with a brief "short in height" wall appearing on the north side. The visibility is set to 18k, this may also be part of the reason I'm seeing these walls.

    Monolithic Wall

While looking at one of the new maps for 4.1, I set up an area through the mission editor and came across this anomaly. I remember reading in the release notes something about a "wall" problem during testing of maps before initial release.
  4. CATT Combined Arms Tactical Trainer. eSim CATT
  5. DarkAngel uploaded a map a few days ago titled "Suwalki terrain maps", I highly recommend it. I've been deep into that map ever since I opened it up. The height map is awesome. The possibilities are endless for missions as long as editing themes and maps doesn't bother you. The JAXA/ ALOS Hgt is the one I'm working from.
  6. Use the map editor to access the height maps. Safe your map of choice as something other then the stock map and the you can do what you want. Once done with editing your map, publish it, then open that map in the mission editor and your on your way.
  7. It's hard to tell what's going on with that unit other then having and opening up the scenario to see what's going on with your control logic. The AAR shows that a human player took control a few times. Do you have spawn/ drain regions? Maybe a spawn if command is left over from development of a previous save. Do you have auto save active?
  8. Nice video El_Chacho. Showing the improved suppression mechanics and infantry behaviour was very intuitive.
  9. Someday, a while from now, distant and in the future, over the horizon, down the road, maybe, by a twist of fate, after a massive influx of capitol from an mysterious billionaire, Pro PE comes to Mac OS
  10. Hey I haven't bothered anyone, just commented on Ssnakes intention.
  11. I'm so strung out waiting for release that anything visual/ readable coming from eSim regarding it is a life preserver
  12. You could quickly make a monster out of this scenario type in terms of conditions/ events. You could even add in even more conditions based on variables making unit spawn a total random effect.
  13. You can script it so that if a preponderance of vehicles, all tanks as an example, are in a spawn region then the mission fails for that player and loses. You need to assign points, each unit costs so much but you can't spend all the points on one type. It can be done but it will take a while for you to set it up correctly with lots of testing.
  14. Ok. I’m… I’m ready to preorder now…
  15. Ah, ok. It's the A4 that's the newest round.
  16. Is the M829A3 APFSDS - T a new round for this upcoming upgrade?
  17. Regarding the map conversion tool. Does it have the ability to repair or replace “snags”? Example: A large crevice at the extreme side of a map that drops off to infinity.
  18. A 120mm will do just fine killing it

  20. Viper1970 check with your bank regarding a virtual visa debit card. It acts like a credit card for online purchases, uses your funds and has all of the protection services that credit cards provide.
  21. You have to remember that Steelbeasts Pro PE is a product that has had continuous updates and upgrades since it’s release to the public. Most gaming companies will bring out a “game” that has a life cycle of maybe 1.5 years. The upgrade to that “game” is labeled “game 2”. You get free updates for “game” during it’s life cycle but the upgrades to “game” come in the form of “game 2” and often times cost more than “game” did. So you pay maybe $70 for “game”, get bug fixes and updates but after so many months “game 2” gets announced and its $80. Those companies could simply offer it as an upgrade or DLC costing much less, lets say $40 but most times if there’s a new engine involved it’s re-titled, packaged and costs more then it should for max profits. So although the title for eSims public version of their military trainer stays, the updates and upgrades over the years have improved it to such a level that by now it could be called Pro PE 5 or something and the company could say that you need a new dongle with each name change. Am I making any sense here?
