  1. You are right Hedgehog! We have no life. Been eating, drinking, sleeping and living tanks for the last 16 yrs.
  2. The CIP panels work by having a reverse polarity tape on one side and nothing on the other. This allows you to have them off or on depending which side you have exposed. The polarity tape will show the opposite of whatever polarity you have selected in your TIS/FLIR. So if you have white hot the panel will show up black and vic versa if you have black hot selected. Now the reason the panels have an accordion appearance is that if you look at the tape through thermals at around a 90 degree angle the tape does not work or works very poorly. This accordion shape prevents or lessens this from happening if you are at the same level as the vehicle you are looking at.
  3. The MICLIC has never been a full prof mine clearing system. The lane must be cleared/proofed with a mine plow or roller. In the real world you would have your combat Eng. marking and proofing a second time behind the tank. ie useing C4 and blowing any mines that the plow missed or that fell back into the cleared path off of the spoilage from the mineplow. I have seen the combat eng. mount two MICLIC's on top of an AVLB minus the bridge being on it. This was done to conteract deep minefields and also to have a second one avalible in case the first would have a malfunction and fail to launch. This is a common malfunction with the MICLIC system.
