A release decision will not be made before Tuesday next week, which realistically puts this on the July 21st mark, or one week later.

Suits me fine, I have a lot of things to do at work for two weeks anyway.

:o You're not supposed to buy already - we haven't even made the case for the upgrade yet... ;)

But thank you, for this vote of confidence. I hope we'll earn the credit back.

I'm sick with a summer cold so there isn't much to do but to pay bills and update the stick for the new version.

    Release date early July, right?

The point of this thread is to let everybody voice his preferences. That, if multiple people express their wishes, some of them may be contradictory, is pretty much a given. The community is not a hive mind. Insofar I find this critique unfair, as it juxtaposes different opinions from different people as if they were coming from a single body. That simply isn't the case.

Also, I think I made clear that eSim is working on an entirely new engine that will no longer use DirectX 9, that an explicit and major goal of this engine is to separate the render loop from the simulation loop, and as a natural consequence of that a server that doesn't need a graphics card in order to host a session appears quite feasible, possibly via command line switch. Insofar we'll be able to maintain established hosting procedures as well as allowing people with a dedicated gaming server to run SB Pro  without the need for a graphics card.

    Everybody wins.

Can we move on now, please?

Nice! Keep up the good work!

  4. "Bofors" for Sweden? Is that some sort of placeholder name?

If we talk service rifles during the Cold War we used the G3 called Ak 4 (automatkarbin 4 or automatic carbine 4) from around 1965 until the late 80's. It is still in use in various versions in Hemvärnet (home guard) or in the army as a marksman rifle.

From 1986 and onwards it was replaced with a modified version of FN FNC called Ak 5. The versions used today are Ak 5C and Ak 5D in the armed forces and the police used a semiauto version called CGA5P but I believe the SWAT-teams are using various full auto H&K and SIG carbines now.

I'm currently thinking along the line of tree cluster objects (still a single object, but contains more trees). Not a top priority at the moment, but it might be a medium-term workaround. Long-term, we need an entirely different approach.

The other variable to work with is the spotting rules of computer-controlled units. If they spot "something" but wouldn't actually identify it as hostile the problem would be reduced to one of mere aesthetics.

    I like that idea.
