  1. That Leo 1 looks awesome. Nice model!
  2. I would have to agree that most discussions of tactics could be limited to platoon and company battle drills in SB.
  3. Have a look at this: http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/dprk/nkor.pdf
  4. I think it's still mainly T-62s, T-55s, and VTT APCs ("Vetts").
  5. Outstanding! Excellent work, Captain.
  6. Forgive me if this is old news, but it may be worth looking at: http://www.armchairgeneral.com/category/tactics101/page/4
  7. No worries. The safety and security of the ADF soldier should absolutely come first, sir.
  8. Yes, there was one video with U.S. Marine artillerymen working with ADF artillerymen on the same site. But you're right, Marines are not in the Chong Ju vid. So, I understand the squadron's TOE is 13 M1A1. Is that three per troop, with four troops per squadron? Or four per troop, 3 troops per squadron?
  9. Ah, got 'em, sir. Nice to see some Marine artillerymen working with ADF, too. Very motivating stuff.
  10. I was looking for them, but I couldn't find them. I'll check again.
  11. Hoorah, sir! Your people are looking very sharp. There are several great videos on the site, check them out gang.
  12. Another one: http://defence.viotv.com/?mediaId=e1c7e148-73a3-41ec-8fc0-c509887815bb#fe8056e5-6fae-4bad-8460-5e059171316a,7,DateAdded,All
  13. Check this video out: http://defence.viotv.com/?mediaId=e1c7e148-73a3-41ec-8fc0-c509887815bb
  14. "The art and science of winning engagements and battles. It includes the use of firepower and maneuver, the integration of different arms and the immediate exploitation of success to defeat the enemy." Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1-3, Tactics. Another definition, courtesy of the United States Marine Corps. Is this a consensus, or is this strictly an American viewpoint?
  15. Well said, GaryOwen. I like the website, as well. So, it could be said, in VERY simple terms, that tactics are HOW the commander (player) uses units to accomplish his assigned mission ("win" the game)?
  16. "Tactics is the employment of units in combat. It includes the ordered arrangement and maneuver of units in relation to each other, the terrain, and the enemy to translate potential combat power into victorious battles and engagements." United States Army Field Manual 3-0, Operations. Another definition, just a few pages later.
  17. "Tactics is the art and science of employing all available means to win battles and engagements. Specifically, it comprises the actions taken by a commander to arrange units and activities in relation to each other and the enemy." United States Army Field Manual 3-90, Tactics. Just trying to stimulate some discussion. Feel free to chime in.
  18. 1989-1990? This would have still been the J-series TO&E, I presume. One Headquarters & Headquarters company, four rifle companies, and one anti-armor company. Assume that the rifle companies are equipped with the M2 Bradley or the M113 by this time. The anti-armor company was equipped with the M901 Improved Tow Vehicle (ITV).
  19. Understood, sir. I realize that a person in your position gets many hours of use out of SB. I imagine not all of it is for leisure, either. If I had the proper set-up, I'd like to join in on the multi-player fun. I just like hearing about how the software is taken very seriously, and studied in detail. I'm certainly no longer professional military, but I enjoy learning about how the software is used as a "professional" utility. Part of why I enjoy SB, is that fact there seems to be quite a lot of utility, with regard to learning important tactical lessons, in a real-time environment. It's kinda neat to put myself in the position of someone who has to make a tactical decision, to role-play in a sense. If there is anyway to learn how one comes to the decision that is made in reality, I'm all ears.
  20. Interesting post. I think it would be nice to see some pragmatic application of Steel Beasts as a simulation, versus a game. I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops, keep us posted.
  21. Wow, I did not know this until now, but it makes perfect sense. Can you still Alt+Tab out of the full screen mode?
  22. Huh? Windowed mode uses more framerates? Isn't that bass ackwards? I've always used windowed mode, and noticed the game "stutters" at times. Any suggestions on when someone should or shouldn't use windowed mode?
