  1. All right, that means that they are useless anyway, but why can't I edit-replace them? Will they be there until the end of time? :eek2:
  2. I have downloaded very nice scenario, Fulda Gap Southern Corridor: AutobahnWars Part 2, by WarUlf. As I also liked very much its map, I tried to clean it up of any units/control logic in terms to be able to make some scenarios myself with it. The scenario isn't password-protected, so I was able to erase all Blue/Red units and also all Events and Conditions. But for the triggers, I couldn't, all what I am able to do is to change the name of the triggers, not even to edit them. Is it an oddity or I just made some mistake somehow? This never happened to me before. Cheers, Panta
  3. Yes, it could be nice! :remybussi: Cheers, P.
  4. 1-Sorry if this has been dealt with before (couldn't find anything), but when I hit BACKSPACE in the gunner's position of an M1A1, I don't see any indication whatsoever that I am now using the battlesight, like in the Leo, where the range automatically indicates 1000. Is that normal? 2-Do M1A1s emit smoke from their engines when ordered to (shift Tab, IIRC)? because I don't see anything, like I do with the Brads. Is that due to the use of J-7 fuel that prevents from making smoke in such manner? BTW, nice new banner! Cheers, Panta
  5. Well, not, actually. They are members of the military in different countries and from different organizations and are boasting about who are better, cavalrymen or infantrymen. Does it ring you any bell? :diable: Cheers, Panta
  6. 01-Basic gun controls (2009/02/15) v.2.483
  7. Then it is just another case of the infamous "copy/paste" error I am (unfortunately) quite prone too myself! :diable:
  8. Tx, it's that the tutorial says that the troop hatches are precisely open/closed hitting ALT+B and I created a scenario with Pizarros and nothing happens when I do it. (or it does, but nothing says so, not even the usual text messages at the bottom of the screen)
  9. I am trying the Pizarro. When I hit Alt+B supposedly the crew hatches open/close, but I can't see any indication whatsoever of its status, neither from inside the vehicle or the external view. Is it normal? Cheers, Panta
  10. A Spanish chap just told me that a tank company from an armoured unit has 3 platoons (secciones) of three tanks each, plus the commander's tank (10) and a cavalry squadron has two platoons (secciones) of 6 tanks each, plus the commander's tank (13 tanks).
  11. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, chaps! Panta

    Smoke and AI

Tx, that confirms my assumptions. When alone on command of a platoon I will continue experimenting with the metod of employing: SCOUT/COLUMN/FAST/NORMAL (spacing) and see if it works.; :eek2:, thus if I have to stop in a hurry, my smoke will cover the rest of my units.

    Smoke and AI

Then I will upgrade my question: does manually taking command of a platoon (taking charge of #1) supersedes the path/orders/tactics previously plotted on the map?

    Smoke and AI

And what happens if I am leading a platoon from vehicle #1 and suddenly we make contact? I can manually pop smoke and reverse myself, but what about the others? If I create a route and give the units the SCOUT order with FAST speed, so the troops don't dismount and then for any reason I take command of #1 myself and drive, what will it happen with the other vehicles, how will they react?

    Smoke and AI

And you're right, I expected an IFV/APC to pop smoke when making contact with a serious threat or when fired at.

    Smoke and AI

I guess that sometimes I have used them in FAST, but not in TOP, why? Anyway, I was referring to commanding the platoon directly from the lead tank, not on the map.

    Smoke and AI

All right, then they don't pop smoke if they aren't ordered to pull back. It means that if you merely stop on contact and don't order the whole unit to retreat, they stay as they are, regardless of the threat, on the open. I was asking that because I have been trying different approaches while reconnoitering with IFVs, like to stop on contact, pop smoke, shoot through it with the thermals, while pulling back searching for a defilade position. (A little less cautious and faster option than just disembarking my dismounts and make them scout ahead). And that means that the best platoon formation for that when you're on command of a whole platoon is COLUMN, thus all vehicles are masked by the smoke popped by the leading unit. Tx.

    Smoke and AI

Maybe I am wrong, but I have noticed that the AI-controlled vehicles seldom, if ever, pop smoke by their own. Is it correct? Cheers, Panta
  19. I recently joined a Spanish group of Steel Beasters, some of them presently (or in the past) in the military. Just the other day I was talking with one of them precisely about that issue you presented, about the budgetary constraints that probably forced the Spanish Army to adopt the three-tank platoons. Anyway, I am due to contact --some of them, at least-- even today, so I will double-check that info for you. Most Spaniards from our community have troubles with the language of Shakespeare (or was it Dante Alighieri?), so they don't come to this forum. Cheers, P.
  20. Is this link of any use or you already know it?::redface: http://orbat.com/site/toe/issues/6/spanishcavalryandinfantrybattalionTOE.doc cheers, Panta

    p boats?

Yeah, SBP sucks! I will explain why. After I purchased the game, I got the more and more involved with it, playing solo during countless hours, even at work. All Mondays night I meet with a few friends for an -unfortunately most satisfactory- multi-player session, for which I even have spent several hours previously, carefully creating the scenario. My wife has even stopped complaining, there´s no hope for her. After I began playing SBP, almost all the other games I used to play with immense joy -with the notable exception of TacOps, which employs a different scale/approach- ceased being as fulfilling as before... I upgraded my computer just to play SBP better, which costed me more money and I am pretty sure that I will burn even more with the upcoming upgrades... To make it short, damn SBP, I wished it wasn´t so good! :diable: Cheers, P.
  22. I have been designing a few scenarios that we play with a group of Gents and so far I have almost completely dismissed the Victory Conditions issue. If I want to punish one side for just aiming to defeat the enemy whilst losing too many units (like in R/L), what parameters do I have to set? So far I have been employing scoring for events, like occupied objectives or for enemy units destroyed, but that isn´t enough. cheers, Panta
  23. Hey RogueSnake, If you were rich, you would be using a powerful Mac and couldn´t play SB anyway, so, what do you complain of? :diable:
