  1. I've sailed around those forts myself, and its quite an eerie feeling when you get up close to them. It wasn't a clear day either, and seeing them appear through the mist is an image I always remember. There was also the issue of 'Fort Madness' among the crews serving there. This article, with some good pics I might add, explains it a little: http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/world-war-ii-fort-madness-britain-s-bizarre-sea-defense-against-the-germans-a-728754.html
  2. Video and story of the incident in Tracey Shelton's own words: http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/middle-east/syria/120912/video-aleppo-syria-tracey-shelton
  3. As flightsim vids go, this is pretty neat! Click to watch on Youtube in 1080HD and full screen for the full effect. bn2_D9X0m44
  4. Yes, they really are peaceful. They are having so much fun in the streets across the world, supposedly because of a film (but obviously there is more to it than that). Current list of fun places to be: http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2012/09/map-of-muslim-protests.html You can now add Australia to the list too: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=414_1347810260 Edit: Some pics and videos of them being happy and joyful in Australia during their protest: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/police-use-pepper-spray-on-anti-islamic-film-protesters-in-sydney-at-the-us-consulate/story-e6freuy9-1226475238920 Oh, what a 'happy, tolerant and peaceful' religion... And for all those who helped free Kuwait from Saddam's army, this is the thank you they give: Translation: Kuwaiti assembly in front of the U.S. embassy s19c1ZJjJ60 Ungrateful bastards...
  5. These pilots are packing! reRRgEET6Kw
  6. TROOPS - Star Wars Cops Parody: PNhPHWCNuoQ Stumbled upon this earlier. Made in 1997, it's actually pretty good. Watch in HD as the standard resolution is quite low.
  7. MK19 Automatic Grenade Launcher Firefight: XZYvCUSusQI
  8. Another mortar incident, (no snackbars this time!) Look closely, he puts the round in upside down... CyCfRYcByu4 Longer version here showing the loading error: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8d9_1342244334
  9. Pretty much, yes. I like it as it's instant (sometimes full LOS takes a bit of time to display) and it doesn't change the scenario map colours - pink overlay etc. A very handy little tool when you just want a quick way of finding if a particular spot has a clear LOS or not.
  10. When you click and drag, not only do you get the distance but when the cursor turns black it means an area that you cannot view. So if you drag it to a hillside facing you the cursor is clear, but once over the crest it turns black. It acts as a quick-use line of sight tool. I've found it helpful in the scenario editor for knowing if a particular spot it observable without using the LOS option on the right of the screen. EDIT: I was just in the SB wiki and stumbled across the same info in the Planning Phase section. I must have skipped over it in the past. http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php/Planning_Phase
  11. Thanks Hedgehog, it did look similar to the Sabot he talked about but more of a 'squat' design in comparison. @Gibson - Yes, I assume its the first broadcast here. I watched it online and the BBC only let you watch programmes for 7 days after they air if I recall.
  12. Clichéd perhaps, but it's only a short piece and could be featured live on news/media channels etc. Holst's Mars would take a long time to play in comparison so no doubt they would edit it within an inch of its life.
  13. Then they go and do this... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/9505062/Nasas-Curiosity-rover-broadcasts-new-will.i.am-song-from-Mars.html# With all the wonderful music created over the centuries, this is what they play on Mars! I would have chosen this instead, it would sound epic coming from Mars: SLuW-GBaJ8k
  14. Old video with a happy ending. From Iraq I believe. Caution: Snackbars throughout. Qf7sNdYXp7s
  15. This must be the place! Not sure about the patrons...
  16. Thank you for this! I don't know how, but I was unaware of this extremely helpful tool. Cheers Eisenschwein! :drink:
  17. I watched this on iPlayer earlier. Quite funny, especially with the call sign hamster. A question though to anyone who saw the programme - before doing his gunnery training they lined up 5 ammo types on the rear of a tank and explained them, but for some reason the programme skipped one of the ammo descriptions. Anyone know what ammo type it was or why they would ignore it? Thanks. EDIT: They described Sabot, MPAT, HEAT and Canister but skipped one.

    Cold feet?

"...Tiger on my left foot Sherman on my right, here I am snug in my slippers with you..." Or words to that effect...
  19. Don't forget the bacon. Those Snackbar patrons love their bacon!
  20. Not sure how, but I re-downloaded everything again (several times to be sure I hadn't missed any updates etc.) from the site and this time the Paderborn(2.654).zip file contained Paderborn.hgt dated 07/02/12. Guess it did upload to the DL section as I seem to have got hold of it, but it only appeared when I did a search instead of being listed normally. I've already had a drive around the landscape and its great!
  21. You want low flying, watch this! :eek2: He can only be a few feet up.
  22. Great work, the map looks fantastic! PS - Map problem solved.
  23. UFOPORNOOOOOO!!!! WTF??? :eek2:
