  1. There was a real Blackadder, John Blackadder, he was Col in chief of the 26th (Cameronians) Regement of Foot in the late 1600s, in which later my Grandfather served during the first World War. I still have his cap badge, I also have my father's from when he served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
  2. And we speak Vlaams here not Nederlands oh and they seem to have got rid of most of the Leos around here too
  3. Just remember to put all the screws back when you have finished, thanks
  4. Sheesh would you look at the workmanship on that! there is a screw missing from the side panel of the sights
  5. Never seen version 4 of Blackadder! but the first three incarnations were great. never seen Johnny English either for that matter
  6. You forgot the yoof that found the chief's laptop on the local dump (or train)
  7. That is just it I'm surprised at that, just as much as I was surprised at how fast they moved, but the tanks I saw were "factory fresh" literally! and I had to put up with them thundering past me all day. I do not know what the configuration of them was so they might have been just empty shells for all I know. I've just had a look on Google earth and used that to measure the track where I was, it was for 800meters that I was mixed in with the tanks, there was a gap and I was told to "go for it"

    SSD

I use a 160GB Intel XM-25 SSD in my laptop and have been for almost 18months now. For SB it is almost an instant on and when you open the mission editor it takes between 1 and 2 seconds, same with the scenarios. makes me wish I had one in my desktop too My use for the SSD is not for it's speed though, it is for use in the car for offroad navigation, the speed is just a happy by-product for me.
  9. I thought the order for column march was 1,4,2,3
  10. Ah thanks I havn't seen that clip in a while The RRS is very good off road and that one had road tyres on it too, although on 19" rims instead of the 20" rims that are standard for the supercharged version. I'm still glad I bought the RRS rather than the Vogue
  11. well my vehicle was 5.2 tonnes with 148bhp/450Nm and had the aerodynamics of a large brick, it was not noted for it's acceleration or braking for that matter, my top speed was limmited to 55mph.
  12. The challenger 2 is not a slow tank, I have been with a few and we were doing between 70-80km/h, it was a little scary having 60 tonnes of Chally sitting on the tail of my little 4x4
  13. I would have liked to have been there but I knew well before hand that I had a familly outing on at the same time so never put my name forward. Would have loved to see how the battle unfolded, any one else got a viable AAR?
  14. First time I tried to open it, it crashed the program to desktop, second time after making sure all un-neccesary processes and services were off it went back to the main menu.
  15. The sextant belonged to the ship, Maresk Seville, the guy on the right is the Captain and we are in port at Zeebrugge. He had not used a sextant for quite a long time he said so many aids to navigation now! I trained as a service engineer for Decca Radar servicing and installing radars and navigation equipment, when I first started it was all valve equipment and by the time I done my training it had progressed to transistors and that new fangled multi legged thing called an IC. .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decca_Navigator_System This is what I started out on, the Mk12, though the Mk5 was still in service on a few fishing boats, the Mk21 just came into service just after I started in 1973
  16. The first navigation training I had was when I was in the Scouts, later it was when I started flying. Never had to use a sextant tho, but it was still taught to navigators when I was going to join the RAF back in the early 1970s. A couple of years ago a friend started to show me how to take a sighting with a sextant when we were aboard his ship
  17. Well done eSim, congrats to the whole team

    Map Issues

Had a try at opening the Hannover-Weserbergland.ter map in the map editor and it opened fine, but, if I tried to View (F1) then it wouldn't open the view. I had to close a few services before I could get it to open the view but it did open. Win 7 x64ult. Core i7 965ex 3.2GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB raid, Nvidia 580GTX. Now on my laptop, what a diffrence, the map editor opens in a flash and loads up the Hannover-Weserbergland.ter in a few seconds, same with going to view, it is almost instant. The big diffrence is that the laptop has a 160GB SSD, it really speeds things up to the point that my desktop feels so slow! Thinkpad X201T, Win7 x64Ult. i7 620M @2GHz, 8GB RAM, Intel 160GB SSD. Integrated HD Graphics on the i7 CPU.
  19. They were keeping the frontal aspect towards the enemy although at that point all that was left was 1 Red unit in Byto itself.
  20. For that one all it takes is a HDMI out from the PC/laptop, I have to use a Displayport adapter to HDMI converter to get the pic on the screen. It would be much easier to use my PC as it has HDMI out on it. I was duplicating the laptop screen which is 1280x800 but it won't display SB on the screen at that resolution, so I had to run SB windowed. If I turn off the laptop screen it will let me go upto 1920x1080 on the screen, and display SB full screen.
  21. Thanks Sean, but it is just a bit too big to take in the view all at once, posted a pic of it on the screenshot thread.
  22. Screen shot of the laptop to the cinema screen, image is aprox 100" (2.5m)wide.
  23. Too far for Bluetooth, and too many stone walls between, WiFi is iffy so I had to wire a Wifi/8port switch. I already have a cat6 for the switch and another for the Digibox Part through wiring up the equipment and the business end
  24. had this happen a couple of times with older scenarios, you get to a hold waypoint and when the time for the hold was up the units reversed back to the last waypoint when they should have advanced to the next. First time I seen it was on the Byto series of engagements
  25. Only thing is that has a short range of 30' and only in the same room, a UTP HDMI Tx/Rx should give upto 200' for a lot less money http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=HDMI+UTP&rh=n%3A283926%2Ck%3AHDMI+UTP&ajr=0 Hmmm looks like another little project for me, have to run another cat6 cable from the lounge to the cinema and fit an extender for keyboard and mouse in the cinema.
