  1. Not really, the centre of gravity is way too high on those kind of vehicles, and bi-pedal locomotion is inherently unstable, even tripodal is unstable. Even now there are companies experimenting with exoskeleton devices for combat troops, so maybe somekind of combined battle armour/exoskleton is not too far round the corner, maybe something like the Toad from the Mechwarrior series would be a little more practical. They do have fibers that contract when you apply a voltage/current to them, mext step Myomar
  2. 21st century version of the seige tower?
  3. Did you get your internet fixed? Good luck with the new laptop It is difficult to control SB with the trackpad, it can be done but it is easier with the mouse.
  4. Hi Hedge, I have an Lenovo X201T (2985EZG) with i7 620LM @ 2GHz, 8Gb RAM and a 160GB Intel SSD, it is fast, much faster than my desktop which has a i7 965EX @3GHz, 1TB WD Raid, 12Gb RAM with a GT580 graphics card, most of the speed diffrence is down to the SSD. The wife also has a Lenovo X201T (3113WNE)with an i5 @ 2.66GHz and is a little quicker at processing stuff due to the higher clock speed but the SSD in mine makes up for that. We are both more than happy with the Lenovos, mine is 2 years old now and the wife's is 1 month, they both replaced 2 Dell Latitude C610 from 2000 and we used them until they stopped working properly. I have a X200 UltraBase for mine that I can put in things like an extra HD or a DVD/Bluray writer it also gives me a HD video out on the dispalyport with 5.1 sound that I can plug into the cinema via a displayport to HDMI converter. Altho it was not listed in the spec of the wife's X201 they both have Gobi2000 WWAN cards with 3G and GPS built in and a SIM slot to put in your own sim card (vodafone is the prefered supplier in the UK) I use O2 in UK and Proximus in Belgium when out on the road. The main thing I use mine for is off road navigation in my car and for reading Kindle books in bed One downside of them is that the grandkids love them and want to use them when they come into the house, the pen-enabled screens are so cool they say, mine is also multitouch meaning you can use your fingers to navigate, type etc. on screen just like on an iphone/ipad. I got ours through this crowd http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ also checked here for prices http://www.pric.co.uk/p8986
  5. Sorry to hear that Hedge, hope you get something soon. The last time I had a "change of job" imposed on me it was the turning point of my career, after that it was onwards and upwards until I took early retirement a few years ago
  6. With me it is the Windows home server connector software that causes the hesitation. I have t go into Processes and Services and stop all instances of Windows Server and then I'm ok. Could this be a problem? speed stepping certainly causes you to drop out in multiplayer games, even if you are playing on a gigabit LAN, I have to turn off the Turbo Boost on my i7 laptop as when it steps up it drops out.
  7. Hang we don't even have "Tanks" any longer here, just the Piranha 3C with a 90mm gun. http://lucdejaeger.smugmug.com/Military/Belgian-Army-Base-Legerbasis/3057698_qxc8RX/166622138_u28Sa#!i=1304055651&k=djTPmXV Taken at the local army base open day, we see these vehicles passing by most days

  14. Last I heard was that they kept a few Hunters in service for inverted spinning as it was the only aircraft in the RAF's inventory that was licenced for such a manoever.

  21. "Brass" a term of endearment for a lady of negotiable virtue
  22. I'll try and log in from the boat on sunday night with the iphone teamspeak app. So far it has not been reliable and I have only been able to connect to the SB teamspeak on Thursday evening. *Fixed* had to import the identity from the PC to provide the right user level
  23. or if we can do some by "real internet" and some by Hamachi. I made a small error last night and left my Outlook and IExplorer running in the background  Mia culpa
  24. I had got a copy of it too, I have other uses for it than SB. The network version that looks the same as the free version costs about £46 per computer per year. Anyway it is something to be discussed this evening on teamspeak to see how we are going to go forward.
