  1. Ok, I didn't know that you could damage vehicles with the torch too. I have never seen that happen during my very limited experience with that game.
  2. I'm pretty sure the guy with the torch was an engineer attempting to repair your tank, I think you were killed by someone else... In BF, all kinds of damage can be fixed in seconds with a blow torch... :heu: However, your decision to leave the game is understandable, these kinds of boring, repetitive arcade games gets very boring, very fast.
  3. And it's been asked and answered several times already, last time on the previous page. :bangin:
  4. You could have just put a smiley at the end, and the joking would have been obvious... that's what caused the misunderstanding...
  5. Someone said in the comments that the pirates were already taken off, they probably just had some fun sinking the ship.
  6. Thanks! It would indeed be very interresting!!
  7. I'm a freelance translator, and I just got an offer from a translation agency about a huge military themed project. The translation test for being considered for this is a short passage from a brochure about a pretty well known armoured vehicle (I'm not naming it, as I do not know if that would be appropriate with regards to confidentialy or something. Probably wouldn't matter, but better safe than sorry). So, am I excited? Desperately hoping to get in on this project?? You bet!!! :debile2:
  8. Don't want to go too off topic, I will just mention that even if you purchase from Steam you should still always use DCS World. DCS World is free, and if you have a Steam code for another module/aircraft, just download first DCS World, and then download and install the module for DCS World, and activate it with your Steam key. DCS World has automatic updates and other advantages over the standalone versions.
  9. Already answered in the other thread you asked in...
  10. Yes, absolutely. Please stay in the present. Arma 3 is bringing some amazing improvements over Arma 2, but I was disappointed by the futuristic setting. Using things that actually exist in a sim is so much more interresting.
  11. Ok, thinking about it, I might have remembered that wrong. Perhaps you need to purchase an extra license first. Or does everyone have that on their dongle? Can't remember now, it's been a while since I last read about this feature. Anyway, I'm sure some other person which is more up to date can help you further. Or you can just search the forum for "licence" and maybe some useful threads comes up.
  12. Just wait until the price has been announced. There is really no reason to make a decision before that. He can still join you right now, just have him download the sim, and he can borrow an activation (or whatever it's called) from you. Then he can make the purchase decision after the price for the upgrade has been announced.
  13. Nope, Ssnake has stated that the rumors about a $25 update are false, so most likely this one will be more than that. (I can't imagine than an update to 3.0, which would mean a more extensive update this time, would be cheaper than previous, smaller ones). http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=18993
  14. I'm not sure I'm reading you right, are you saying the Argentinians would win if they tried to take the Falklands again? That's simply not true. Back in 1982 there was nothing but a handful of British Marines down there, today the defences are much stronger, and the Argentinian military is weaker.

  17. It's not only tanks and IED:s that are dangerous in Syria... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=877_1361320979
  18. Maybe it wasn't the graphics you had problems with? The Combat Mission games are running a huge amount of calculations in the background, and modells things that less realistic titles don't. Things like armor penetration, LOS for every individual unit, accurate ballistics and so on. This makes it much more resource intensive than what just looking at the graphics would suggest.
  19. And still Arma manages to be the master of the infantry simulation trade. I guess every rule has an exception.
  20. Not true, they both have their strong and weak points. Steel Beasts of course has infinitely more detailed and realistic armored vehicles, and in my opinion a better map/c&c system, but it loses out to Arma in every other field. Much inferior infantry, inferior graphics, nothing like the complete combat experience of Arma, which has aircraft, vehicles, infantry, artillery, boats (and in the upcoming Arma 3 also diving and underwater operations), etc., etc., all controllable by the player. I see no reason to choose one over the other (unless you are only interrested in armor or only infantry), or bash any of them and declare the other superior. They're both great simulators, with a different and complementary focus.
  21. Yes, that's an important book. We here in Sweden have been fortunate enough to have had access to several similar "mythbusting" books about Kursk, published over the past decade. It's nice that someone is finally picking up this thread and spreading it to a wider global audience. There is also this book, dealing with the same topic: http://www.amazon.com/Demolishing-Myth-Prokhorovka-Operational-Narrative/dp/1906033897

    Dongle question.

You are right, Disc Configuration has apparently been removed from the latest CodeMeter software. But I found a fix here: http://www.reddit.com/r/reasoners/comments/nwioz/codemeter_causing_recycle_bins_to_not_show/ Basically, you have to use the command prompt to change the disc type now. I don't understand why they have made it this complicated to fix this problem? This seems to be quite a common problem, so why remove the possibility to fix it quickly and easily? :decu: Well, at least it is fixed now, and having to type a cryptic command line took me back to the time when computers ran MS DOS instead of Windows, and everything was done this way!

    Dongle question.

I have just noticed this same problem with deleted items in the recycle bin not being visible. However, I can't find this "Disc Configuration" tool to change the Disc type. Under Code Meter => Tools in the Start menu, I only see "CmDust" and CodeMeter Command Prompt. What do I do to change the disc type?
  24. No, I just got the dongle in a padded envelope. It's going to have to be a really special DVD case to be worth paying extra for.
  25. I'll let Chris answer himself, but his location says: Lima, Peru, so that's probably where he lives. Also, the price is not 125$ anymore, just 100. If you want a printed manual (but why would you, it will just get obsolete at the next update) and a physical DVD (again, why would you, just burn one yourself if you want one) then it's another 22$, not 25$.
