I can but recommend that you work with the terrain detail sliders, as they also control the distance at which 3D trees get rendered as simple billboards. The deep forest is a test of the "max overdraw" situation where a gazillion of triangles are all overlapping each other, so reducing the number of triangles by way of LOD balance in the detail sliders should help. At the end of the day however the ability of your graphics card to process 3D geometry data is the bottleneck. I suspect that your graphics card is either old, or low end, or both. We can squeeze what's possible from it, but where there's a hardware limit, only better hardware can solve it. For example, my GTX 980 has no problems whatsoever maintaining a framerate above 60 with the deep forest scene.

If its geometry, why such a big difference between thermal and day sights? In my case 9 in day and 20-21 in thermal? That's scanning a treeline.

  2. I think rather than adding or subtracting anything or worrying about complexity, your priority is to make sure that whats in the sim works as it should. You have too many things to fix the way it sits as of the last patch. Right now SB is as simple or complex as any player needs it to be IMO(we have lots of options). However with that said I'd take a fuller  playable Soviet OPFOR, better graphics engine, and a side order of 'better organised" control UI. Path finding needs a look at as well...been some complaints about AI during missions this last couple weeks. Ballistics and damage modeling are in question as well(by those that would know). But in all fairness that may well be fixed in the upcoming patch this week.

In general more real is ok, but there is no joystick with a easy to use palmswitch - and on the other hand you can use a mouse ...

yeah I'm lucky to have a pinky button to use as palm switch. But it is still a pain having to rethink a setup that I've used for years.IMO,there should be an option to disable the need for pressing palms though. One advantage to the new system is less arm movement when scanning.

  4. joystick...but its not clear to me just what is supposed to happen when pressing whatever buttons now.Where is the leopard 2 tutorial so I can get it straight? AlI know is I never had to press more than 1 button at a time to engage the different modes in the leopard previously. Now its 2.And the cancel button is redundant now.

    found tutorial...duh...going through it now

  5. Something isn't right but I'll be damned if I know what it is...I have to hold the palm switch to maintain  any modes, and releasing it cancels any input.this is making the cancel button 3 redundant.Modes aren't "sticking' in there respective modes. Its working strangely. But to be honest I'm not sure what is correct anymore.

    Hola!

Just installed 4.159 over 4.157 (Windows 10) and while using the Leopard 2A4/A5 TC position (editor, range, instant action, tutorials...) the cursor up (KH Mode) cursor down (ZU Mode), shift+* (KW Mode) are not working anymore. I have no joystick in use, clicked the default option to try to reset the controls / check control handle on-off / joystick input on-off and restarting the game and Win10 without luck. Also try to change the keyboard language from spanish to english. When I use shift+cursors to order the gunner to scan front/left/right that function works. Read at the release notes something about palm switch/peri ZU for Leo 2 bugs fixed but don't know if something was changed here.

    Thanks! B|

ps: as always sorry for my bugged english

same problem here...arrows and pov cease to work for leopard modes

edit...seems I now have to hold  button 5 to get it to work.

Load Steel Beasts in debug mode and then exit without doing anything else: Windows Start Menu -> eSim Games -> Troubleshooting -> Steel Beasts Pro PE (debug)

Then go to your user Documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\logs folder and attach the DebugLog.txt here. If you're not sure how to get to that folder, you can press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, paste

    %userprofile%\Documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\logs

into the Open: dialog and hit OK, which will open the correct folder.
