  1. Much appreciated Folks and thank you both for the info, as you say @Gibsonm they are probably a logistic nightmare for small groups I was just curious really so if I ever 'get gud' I may well jump into a friday again Time constraints and work get in the way currently. @Bond_Villian I will settle for watching you guys lug it out for now and take inspiration from those missions to apply to some smaller scale endeavours of my own in the mission editor. Thank you again
  2. Ahh I see I was trawling through the thread to see if I was missing something I saw the mission names and 'assumed' they were in a bundle, or available in downloads. I will keep working on some smaller scale scenarios and learn to work with the control logic Thank you
  3. Really enjoy the TGIF videos that Zero and Rotareneg post and specifically the ability to see the battle from both sides in live action format Very educational at points and picked up some tips along the way. Well Done Is there a comprehensive bundle of the missions list or has it become less prescriptive? I wouldn't mind having a bit of a run through some of these with some friends and I cant seem to track them down in the downloads section? In other news very impressed with the new engine and well done Esim
  4. Quite the contrary mate I am sure its not the 'military' that are the issue
  5. Death by power point is always a good way to seal the purse strings Thanks Ssnake I wish I had noticed the thread before I replied to Gibson's pm but I will offer up some bullet points that may well be worth considering as a future tech Thin Client Virtualisation of Servers Cloud solutions such as Azure / Lumberyard Why buy a cloud when you can host your own (from a government perspective that is) https://shadow.tech/gben I would offer my referal code but I probably breach some terms of usage and its black Friday so if you jump in now you might get a good deal (be aware it takes them time to spin up your machine) and please read the small print With regards to the next iteration of SB and the demands the new terrain model has it might well be the only way the client can keep up with the technological requirement?
  6. certainly an interesting read nice to see the military getting 'wet' over cloud and SaaS but its not an unfamiliar story to me. Isn't the point of that presentation to drive simplification and cost saving though? Utilising new technologies to place multiple requirements on a single modular platform? I can see it would be a challenge for any organisation and its happening across the industry not just in the Military That said I don't want to hijack this thread so here is some gratuitous A4E these guys really deserve the plug
  7. Yup downloaded and testing amazing work by some dedicated fans very nice
  8. I think if we did easy we wouldn't be here but yes agree it takes a degree of smarts but one thing that is clear is the technology is converging
  9. https://forums.mudspike.com/t/vbs3-steel-beasts-motion-simulation-flight-sim-combo/3757 last year this happend?
  10. Cultural misinterpretation there Gibson me ol'mucker the biting of some ones hand is to imply a keenness to partake or general fanatical excitement at a worthy offer however I believe my point is quite clear and it still stands you have a choice r2-t72 or a genuine crew but it would seem to be moot
  11. Aye and you damn near bit his hand off didn't you :debile2:
  12. We are talking about two different things here I am responding to a lack of willingness to play opfor in Zipuli's mission You are talking about your Job
  13. The point is not that I am an T-72 fanboi and that I think you should all jump on board the new ride The point was that we finally have crewable Opfor vehicles and the potential for some genuine 'thinking' behind the enemy vehicle's for a change. That opens up possibility or should. I guess It's because I come from a flight sim background and I think how things would have gone their if people had demonstrated the same attitude to new ideas that are common place here. Oh well apparently you guys prefer shooting robot fish in a barrel to the genuine unpredictability that a human opponent provides.
  14. Actually very happy about the T-72 and more than happy to ride this bitch regardless of if I get my ass whooped Your lack of willingness to try something new is both revealing and Hilarious How long before we see a banner for 'Remove T-72 from Steelbeasts - it makes me feel dirty' They should stick you guys in glass cases next to your former rides :smilelove-1: Hats of to you Zip for trying
  15. Looks Like some one is looking to set up the 'yom kippur' war last pic in gallery looks like a centurion to me ? T55 vs Centurion http://www.amazon.com/Centurion-T-55-Kippur-1973-Duel/dp/1846033691/ref=pd_sim_b9#reader_1846033691
  16. WOW now that's something I guess that does show that if you campaign hard enough things can be achieved I will now go eat my hat Большое спасибо!!
  17. Having played online in one shape or form for the last 30 odd years I can honestly say that the answer there is 'NO'. The Last thing I want is some 'recktard' that spent most of his waking hours playing ARMA2 on the pc or Battlefield on the play station being my last best hope for peace It might delude the odd individual into thinking he has what it takes to cut it in defense but it sure as hell aint where they are going to start come the draft. I can see it now 'Oh you played a lot of ps 3 did you son? Well grab this here flag and run as fast as you can across that minefield over their will yah? We will credit your profile.' Seriously I think the only significant effect any of it has is that they make some of the interface's on the tech a little more familiar, PS 3 controllers for drones and steering wheels for tanks that kind of thing but thats just to cut down on the training
  18. indeed the only thing that might scare the MOD of is the cost of the machine you need to run it  but with all the tanks getting mothballed of late perhaps they will have a few quid to spare
  19. Given that the likely hood of a REAL full scale tank on tank war pretty much died with the cold war isn't it no the case the this is more of a 'what if' history study? Take a look at other sims out there, people are not flying Sopwith camel's F-16's Harrier's etc because they were Uber or a still valid technology they are doing it out of nostalgia and a homage to the past exploits of long gone warriors, or as hypothetical studies of how things might have played out. For my two cents SB is rapidly becoming a nostalgia fest given that it all seems to have been founded back in the day when the hypothetical invasion of Germany in a cold war gone hot scenario was the real threat? Back to the T-XXX's are not all the modern day tanks built on the principle that mother Russia would storm the borders on mass not in pathetic little one on ones but with odds that would likely mean that you would need a machine that was capable of sustaining two or three direct hits? Will any of our current enemies bother with tanks when a well placed airstrike will do the job? Where is the challenge of beating up some half arsed A.I when you could play a Lion and Locusts scenario with humans doing the fighting and not guided automatons or facsimiles. I think some of the reason you don't see crew-able Russian tech is the optics are too bloody complicated for the engine. Finally its not always about the wining its about the taking part some time's and shitting with da man just because you can. None of this is spoken with the expectation of any kind of resolution or influence just my perspective on it :remybussi:
