  1. Driver? Hatch? On a Boxer? Just talking about the commander and commander's hatch on the Boxer. The commander popping up while the hatch is still closed sounds like the issue I encountered however. Probably one in the same. Didn't really pay that much attention since I felt it was a very minor issue. Sorry, I think I think I got a little off topic from the original poster concerning the Boxer. Which reminds me. Another very minor thing, the CV90-35 DK (and if you squint hard enough on the CV90-30 FI) port forward rear passenger helmet becomes visible when the turret turns such that the helmet is no longer hidden by the turret.
  2. Oh goodness... I would have to say go with what you like and learn those. Nothing beats learning to pilot the AFV you like the most. I would however recommend giving the Bradleys and the CV90 line ups a whirl as well. M60 and Leopard 1s are a blast too. The Russian equipment is a bit difficult to learn but a great challenge. If you can can get good with them, then you are a pro, in my humble opinion anyway. And the NATO equipment doesn't feel so claustrophobic afterwards. So yeah, basically try them all and see what you like. They are all unique, and in my humble opinion, enjoyable to pilot. Even the support and scout units, such as the trucks. In many missions that you play as the sole player, you'll probably end up piloting a variety of units anyway.
  3. I would warrant a guess that, as this is an 'overhead view', the restriction placed on the vertical angle is to keep it from being too powerful a tool.
  4. Well, since you are used to sims, I doubt it will be all that difficult for you other than memorizing the hot keys. Best thing is to pick a vehicle you enjoy and learn it well before continuing on to another, unless you are one of those peeps that is just super human when it comes to these things. Other than that, try the trainers and some of the single player missions. Camp_Hornfelt missions are a great set of scenarios to get your feet warmed up on the back of the gunner's helmet. That, and just about any mission that has 'section' or 'platoon' in the title. Could never get my friends interested enough to warrant upgrading to pewter...
  5. True, but we would love to hear your speculations. (No, don't! Don't want you getting in trouble... well, not that kind of trouble anyway.)
  6. Heya Carthaginian! Welcome. As far as I can tell, your system should be able to run SB Pro PE v.4.0. You may need to lower settings a wee bit, and there is a great thread dealing with video card settings to assist in keeping performance up. Thread on hardware recommendations: Thread on decreasing fps stutter: Thread on which license is good for you: Welcome to the crew!
  7. Actually, I have seen this in the exe phase. There are occasions where the commander will pop up and the hatch will remain closed. (I do not recall seeing this when they button up.) It will auto correct itself, but somewhere during transitioning, the commander will be up and the hatch closed. (another one of those very minor bugs) Edit: If I recall properly, I think it is when the commander goes to fully exposed, not semi-exposed.
  8. Well, if they were like me, just thought it was too minor to mention. Considering all that you guys have been up to, I still felt loathe to trouble you with these.
  9. A couple of very minor things dealing with the MANs MAN 10t: when equipping either of the the roof mounted remote systems, ammo counts are off and unable to add in reserve grenades. MG3 just has default ammo count off. MAN SX45: starboard wheels are still 'inverted' as opposed to spare and, as far as perspective is concerned, port wheels.
  10. Hmm, I thought that was a feature, not a bug as most of my missions have been with precipitation. Main reason I use manual focus (Alt+mouse wheel) mostly.
  11. From two sources thus far: Seems to have protection from 30mm APFSDS rounds at its frontal arc. At least for the Patria which I believe is for the XA-360 and 361. http://www.army-technology.com/projects/patria/ http://www.armyrecognition.com/finland_finnish_army_wheeled_armoured_vehicle_uk/amv_patria_wheeled_armoured_vehicle_technical_data_sheet_description_information_pictures_photos_uk.html There are some aluminum hull variants that I believe have a different designation of XC-360, for places like Poland, that only have protection againts 14.5mm rounds at its frontal arc. http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product3441.html
  12. I have an interesting little bug. This may be a bit system specific, so not sure if it can be readily replicated. The AAR will get stuck on certain weather change updates during the following: -- Non-events off -- Events on (checked) -- Mission that lasted longer than 3 hours -- The AAR immediately after the mission. Saving and reloading the AAR will not reproduce this issue. -- Thus far it is with precipitation with all variables for weather changing. (My loaded AARs do not show precipitation.) -- Usually affects all weather updates after the second or third-ish weather update. -- Unable to advance using any of the forward arrows (while Events is checked on) -- As I am able to advance with events off, the computer nor the program is seizing. -- Occurs from both Map or Observer views. I have not played a test mission from 'Mission Editor' as of yet, all have been through 'Offline Session'. These have been from previously create maps that were updated. I am able to bypass the weather update by removing the check from Events and clicking forward. Edit: This have been on three missions thus far.
  13. Congrats on your purchase, I really doubt you will regret it! There is just so much extra with this installment. A lot of little details that makes one giggle like a giddy little school girl that is about to let her inner demon of death and destruction out.
  14. They should have put an ET seat on their handle bars.
  15. Uh, what? You've accomplished so much! Besides, we're thanking you for the things you will accomplish. Thanks!
  16. Curse them for hiding in plain sight!
  17. Hmm, I've actually gotten used to the alt+mouse wheel. That, and I'm usually playing in the rain or snow (heavy to extreme usually) to boot! ^.^ Loving the atmosphere and challenge of it all. *thumbs up*

    Merkava Mk. 2

I would wager a guess that the designers felt there would be no need for smoke as the main role when designing the Merkava was for a mobile defense platform. Get there, dig in and give no ground strategy.
  19. Each of these turrets are not quite like the others... (and a bucket) Now it's time to play our game... But yes, loving the FCS. Though, I think the loader should just deal and let the gunner have continuous stabilization!
  20. By the way, loving the different personalities of the M60A3 turrets. Great job!
  21. Ah, that makes sense, we referred to them as 'rainbows'.
  22. A general statement is an extreme? Like mandatory volunteerism I suppose? I never said, "as real as possible" I said, "a strive toward realism." As far as what that realism is, well... As this is not my project, nor my software, thus it is not my place to make that determination. I simply leave that decision making process to those more knowledgeable and bask in the excellent decisions of Nils and his crew to determine what that line needs be, the fact that they strive toward it and the fact that it brings the software as close to realism as is appropriate for a sim, which I might add is ever more realistic than its previous iteration. Please also note that we are talking about realism in the context of a simulation, there should be certain unspoken things that should be understood and need not be reiterated upon. I ask that you take this into consideration. With that; Enjoy the journey, do not always focus on the destination. Or, if you prefer, enjoy the rainbow, search not for its terminus.
  23. Laf, now we just need the 40 clowns!
