  2. Anyone can to anything wrong...if he wants to. And given the face of a certain threat, much things can go wrong. Yes, an AT-14 strike will kill a IFV, but also a Tank. On the other hand an IFV gets you squaddies safely through loads of maschinegun fire. (Note: and with the maschinecannon of an IFV you are much better in taking out an AT-team then with a tank)

  8. From the rest of the FPS crowd, ARMA still sticks out a bit. All those FPS games show combat how people think it is (i.e. Hollywood style)...arma gets a wee bit closer to realism. Still: Health bars are for kids.

  13. As we are allowed to(and the official videos have all been posted)...I'll give you something to think about: Which of these vehicles is the one with the most firepower?
  14. Greetz, As 2.62x comes closer, how about dusting up an older sce with the new goodies and some changes to the AI(almost done now) and run a BIG battle? It would be a deliberate defense against an enemy MechRgt(+). Blue forces would be a (MN)TankBn(+). Mixed up from company size combat teams: -US (M1A1(HA) + M2) -DK (Leo2A5 + CV9035) -SE (StrV 122 +CV9040) -UK (CR2 + Pizzaro as Warrior placeholder) -1 AT-platoon(tankhunters ;-) ) We would need quiete a number of players! Runable it would be with 25-26...better would be 35 or more. Now lets go looking for staff: I'd like to have Kingtiger as S4(and S1 ;-) ) Also Hedgehog would be a great FSO. (and both will have their hand s full) Who would be willing to run one of the Combat teams or the AT-platoon? They would have to run "their battles"...and it would be great if they would also to some advertizing/rekruiting work for their "units"
  15. 1. You need a dongle and one primary licence to buy one (hence the name secondary licence) 2. You can buy them via esims online shop 3.You can run a game using a secondary licence, if you are connected to a computer which has a dongle(with said licence) inserted In short: It is a way to have you friends play SB without having to buy another full licence.
  16. I'm thinking in the same direction. Leo2A4 vs CR2 might be a balacned game(ammo loadout needs to be disscussed). Hmm, there is a new (really detailed) bergen height and terrain map. So as "battlefield" I'd recomend the NTC in Bergen Hohne (should be known to both sides ;-) ) As for IFV: Maybe we should leave them out for the time beeing: No warrior no marder...both hard to substitute

  18. Got that....we only have one acronym for that: SPz and I thought SPz=IFV(TPz=APC) Is IFV/MICV a thing of different nations? (like AUS using IFV/USA using MICV)...or has just someone been promoted LtCol for inventing a new one :-P
  19. Allways one finds new acronyms. MICV? Does that cover anything armoured that carries infantry? If yes, the problem with them is that in SB the infantry punches below its weight.(easy to spot, easy to kill) But in this sim the vehicles are best used for fighting infantry. Auto-cannon HE/KE rounds work better than Maingun + coax in most cases as "area weapons". Also, esp. for MP games, with the propper coordination between units, they can engage the light vehicles, giving the tank the time to engage other tanks

  21. You still are able to practice gunnery and movement with SB. Also, you can simulate the "more intense" situations in an asysmetric scenario. For many other things are some workarounds, using the civilian cars f.e. STill hope that SB will have a true multy-party-capability in the future. What may be delaying this, is Ssnake beeing a somewhat zealous perfectionist ;-)
  22. About tanks hitting choppers: Its called "all troops air defence"...tankers, IFV crew even infantry men where( are?) trained to shoot at enemy airthreats. The idea behind it, was not to hit them, but to put so much metal into the sky that the aircrew abort their mission for fear if FLYING into something. Job jobbed If you got the 1:10000 chance collision of airframe and bullet, thats a nice bonus. Choppers usually don't engage "fast moving"...they crouch behind cover, and pop up to strike(they have to be stady and stable to bring their weapons to target over e VERY long range). If the chopper didn't see you, and pops up to engage another tgt, you could shoot him down with the main gun. If he popped up to engage you, you won't have the chance :-/ (airjockeys, feel free to correct me)
  23. Yes, its hard to hit mechanized forces on the move. And that was the idea behind them in the first place :-P Otherwise we could stopped with trench warefare ;-)

    New to SB modding

    Hmm, right now we are simulating combined arms combat...which I see as a sensable thing for a tank sim ;-) What would you like to simulate? Anyway, the models here a quiete a bit more complex and harder to make/mod. Esim wants to do its stuff right(amour values, damage "boxes" etc etc) while other are using health bars for their tanks. There is a load of thinks you can get your hand to if you like modding. Maps f.e.! From terrain looks, to ground hardness, tracktion on the surface, "bumpiness", Snow... one could work for ages here
